Background: Airborne fungi have been surveyed every week during the 20 years from 1993 to 2013 in Sagamihara. This is a follow up of 1983 to 1992 survey at the same sampling station, using the same methods.
Objective: We analyzed the transition of airborne fungi of 20-years.
Methods: Using a settle plate method, air sampling was performed by exposing 90 mm settle plates containing potato dextrose agar to the air for 10 min. The plates were incubated at 25℃ for 7-14 days. The fungi were identified and counted.
Results: The average of number total fungi colonies during 20 years were 507 colony forming units (CFU)/5 plate every year. The most common fungi found, except for yeasts and sterile mycelium, were Cladosporium, Alternaria, Penicillium, Ulocadium, Fusarium, Arthrinium, Epicoccum, Aureobasidium, Curvularia, Nigrospora and Aspergillus. A significant correlation was observed between the number total fungi clonies and number of Cladosporium colonies. Although Alternaria, Arthrinium, Epicoccum and Curvularia were significantly reduced as compared 10 years from 1983 to 1992, Cladosporium and Penicillium were comparable.
Conclusion: Cladosporium was most predominant fungi during the 20 years. This study is very valuable in that the transition of airborne fungi revealed by long-term measurement.

Mitigation measures against infectious aerosols are desperately needed. We aimed to: 1) compare germicidal ultraviolet radiation (GUV) at 254 nm (254-GUV) and 222 nm (222-GUV) with portable high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters to inactivate/remove airborne bacteriophage ϕX174, 2) measure the effect of air mixing on the effectiveness of 254-GUV, and 3) determine the relative susceptibility of ϕX174, SARS-CoV-2, and Influenza A(H3N2) to GUV (254 nm, 222 nm). A nebulizer generated ϕX174 laden aerosols in an occupied clinical room (sealed-low flow).

Wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) workers are exposed to bioaerosols containing bacteria, fungi, and endotoxin, potentially posing health risks to workers. The study of the Brazilian cave mycobiota has revealed a rich but highly diverse assemblage of fungi, with , , and being the most frequently reported genera. The present study investigated the airborne fungi and fungi obtained from the bodies of bats, guano, and the soil/sediment from the caves Urubu (in the Atlantic Forest) and Furna Feia (in the Caatinga dryland forest) in the Northeast region of Brazil. Fungal strains were identified based on morphological features and multilocus phylogenetic analyses of ITS, beta-tubulin (), calmodulin (), and RNA polymerase II second largest subunit () sequences.

Particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter of less than 2.5 µm (PM) is one of the criteria air pollutants that (1) serve as an essential carrier of airborne toxicants arising from combustion-related events including emissions from industries, automobiles, and wildfires and (2) play an important role in transient to long-lasting cognitive dysfunction as well as several other neurological disorders. A systematic review was conducted to address differences in study design and various biochemical and molecular markers employed to elucidate neurological disorders in PM -exposed humans and animal models.
