30 hypertensive patients were treated in outpatients conditions for a 6 month period with captopril "Pharmachem". The patients were classified in accordance with the degree of the arterial hypertension into three groups: light hypertension--II patients, moderate hypertension 13 patients and severe hypertension--6 patients. Captopril was applied the first two weeks in a dose of 25 mg 3 times daily. When there was no effect the dose was increased every two weeks with 25 mg daily up to a 150 mg daily dose. A very good result was achieved in 11 patients (36.7%) and in 15 patients (50%) the result was considered good. In 4 patients the arterial pressure fell to normal after the addition of chlorthalidone. The following side effects were observed: decrease of the leucocyte number in reference ranges, insignificant increase of the uric acid in reference ranges, proteinuria below 1 gr/24 h.
