Six-week-old piglets, born of unvaccinated sows, were vaccinated against foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) with a trivalent, inactivated vaccine containing an adjuvant or vaccinated against classical swine fever (CSF) with a live attenuated vaccine or against both diseases simultaneously at two different sites. The antibody response to the FMD vaccine was not significantly influenced by the simultaneous vaccination against CSF. FMD vaccine administered simultaneously with the CSF vaccine produced a significantly higher antibody response to CSF than occurred with CSF vaccination only.

The incidence of cervical cancer continues to rise in underdeveloped regions due to low human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination rates and inadequate screening systems. To achieve convenient, rapid, and accurate detection of HPV, we developed a three-wire lateral flow strip assay system based on dual-OR logic gates for rapid and simultaneous detection of HPV subtypes 16 and 18 in a single test. The system combines three-branch-catalytic hairpin assembly (TCHA)-mediated signal amplification with simple OR logic gate-based signal output to improve detection rates while enabling HPV 16/18 subtype identification.

Programmable Stapling Peptide Based on Sulfonium as Universal Vaccine Adjuvants for Multiple Types of Vaccines.

Adv Sci (Weinh)

Adjuvants are non-specific immune enhancers commonly used to improve the responsiveness and persistence of the immune system toward antigens. However, due to the undefined chemical structure, toxicity, non-biodegradability, and lack of design technology in many existing adjuvants, it remains difficult to achieve substantive breakthroughs in the adjuvant research field. Here, a novel adjuvant development strategy based on stapling peptides is reported to overcome this challenge.

Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is the causative agent of bovine viral diarrhea, which causes significant economic loss to the global livestock industry. Despite the widespread use of inactivated BVDV vaccines, highly pathogenic strains continue to emerge. In China, regional variations in BVDV subtypes, morbidities, and symptoms, however, only the BVDV 1a subtype vaccine is currently approved.

Epidemiology of measles clusters/outbreaks during 2016-2017 in Oman.

IJID Reg

March 2025

Director General for Disease Surveillance and Control, Ministry of Health, Muscat, Oman.

Objectives: The epidemiology of measles in Oman has shown a decreasing trend since the introduction of vaccines with high coverage, even at the district level. Oman achieved elimination status in 2019. Currently, measles epidemiology is characterized by a small number of imported and importation-related cases with limited spread in the community.

Background: We evaluated UK nurses' preferences for pediatric hexavalent vaccine attributes.

Research Design And Methods: In a discrete-choice experiment study, 150 nurses chose between 2 hypothetical pediatric hexavalent vaccines with varying attribute levels (device type, plastic in packaging, time on the market, and time the vaccine can stay safely at room temperature) in a series of choice questions. Using random-parameters logit-model estimates, conditional relative attribute importance (CRAI) and odds ratios (ORs) were calculated.
