Dental erosion starts with a chemical attack on dental tissue causing tooth demineralization, altering the tooth structure and making it more sensitive to mechanical erosion. Medical diagnosis of dental erosion is commonly achieved through a visual inspection by the dentist during dental checkups and is therefore highly dependent on the operator's experience. The detection of this disease at preliminary stages is important since, once the damage is done, cares become more complicated. We investigate the difference in light-scattering properties between healthy and eroded teeth. A change in light-scattering properties is observed and a transition from volume to surface backscattering is detected by means of polarized laser speckle imaging as teeth undergo acid etching, suggesting an increase in enamel surface roughness.

In laser safety eyewear, due to the lack of complete blocking of ultraviolet and infrared rays, we proposed a structure based on one-dimensional multilayer composed of several layers of silicon dioxide and zirconium dioxide materials alternately behind polycarbonate lens. It is find out that the acceptance angle range to the photonic crystal is 0 to 39°. This incident angle range corresponds to the band gap of the photonic crystal.

This work prepared the soy protein isolate (SPI)-beeswax-based bigel loaded with β-carotene, and the effect of printing temperature (PT) on texture regulation was investigated. During printing, increasing PT weakened the rheological properties and printability of ink. However, the mechanical strength and deformation resistance at non-linear regions of products were strengthened after printing.

The efficiency of earth-abundant kesterite Cu2ZnSn(S,Se)4 (CZTSSe) solar cells has been lagging behind the Shockley-Queisser limit primarily due to the presence of deep-level defects. These deep-level defects cause critical issues such as short carrier diffusion length, significant band tailing, and a large open-circuit voltage (VOC) deficit, ultimately leading to low device efficiency. To address these issues, we propose a post-fabrication defect healing strategy by dip-coating the CZTSSe film in dimethylformamide (DMF) solvent.

In this article, the propagation of high-frequency (HF) plane electromagnetic waves through the lower ionosphere is numerically investigated using the real geometry of the Earth's magnetic field in the northern hemisphere. For this purpose, the profiles of electron density and the collision frequency in the layers of the lower ionosphere (D- and E-region) are considered using the reported experimental data for day and night. The reflection, transmission, and absorption coefficients of HF radio waves in the frequency range of 3 to 30 MHz are calculated in the ionosphere plasma.

The article describes a technique for digital holographic reconstruction of complex amplitude fields in diffuse blood facies using laser polarization-interference phase scanning to isolate a single scattered component of the object field. This method serves as the basis for developing algorithms for Mueller-matrix reconstruction of linear and circular birefringence parameters in the polycrystalline architectonics of blood facies. Statistical (central moments of the 1st-4th orders) and multifractal analyses (fractal dimension spectra) are applied to study the optical anisotropy maps of polycrystalline networks during blood dehydration.
