As part of our search of new bioactive saponins from Cameroonian medicinal plants, phytochemical investigation of the roots of Albizia glaberrima led to the isolation of three new oleanane-type saponins, named glaberrimosides A-C (1-3). Their structures were established by direct interpretation of their spectral data, mainly HRESIMS, 1D NMR (1H, 13C NMR, and DEPT) and 2D NMR (COSY, ROESY, HSQC and HMBC) as 3-O-[α-L-arabinopyranosyl-(1 → 6)-[β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 2)]-β-D-glucopyranosyl]-28-O-[β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 6)-[β-d-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 2)]-β-D-glucopyranosyl]-oleanolic acid (1), 3-O-[α-L-arabinopyranosyl-(1 → 6)-[β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 2)]-β-D-glucopyranosyl]-28-O-[β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 6)-β-D-glucopyranosyl]-oleanolic acid (2), and 3-O-[β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-glucopyranosyl]-28-O-[β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 6)-[β-D-fucopyranosyl-(1 → 2)]-β-D-glucopyranosyl]-oleanolic acid (3). The pro-apoptotic effect of the three saponins was evaluated on three human cell lines (pancreatic carcinoma AsPC-1, hematopoietic monocytic THP-1, and human fibroblast cell line BJ). Saponins 1-3 specifically induced apoptosis of pancreatic carcinoma cell (AsPC-1) in a dose-dependent manner. More interestingly, there were inactive on monocytic (THP-1) and normal human fibroblast (BJ) cell lines.

Background: Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) has become increasingly prevalent for treating asymptomatic abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA). This study compares the early and late outcomes between EVAR and open aneurysm repair (OAR) in asymptomatic AAA patients.
Methods: A retrospective observational cohort study was conducted involving 564 patients (445 EVAR, 119 OAR) who underwent AAA repair from January 2010 to June 2022.

This is an annual report indicating the number and early clinical results of annual vascular treatment performed by vascular surgeons in Japan in 2018, as analyzed by database management committee (DBC) members of the Japanese Society for Vascular Surgery (JSVS). To survey the current status of vascular treatments performed by vascular surgeons in Japan, the DBC members of the JSVS analyzed the vascular treatment data provided by the National Clinical Database (NCD), including the number of treatments and early results such as operative and hospital mortality. In total, 143,745 vascular treatments were registered by 1,090 institutions in 2018.

Objective: Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) clinical pathways have demonstrated improved perioperative outcomes after major surgery. However, its adoption within vascular surgery has been limited. In this study, we examined the impact of an ERAS protocol with multimodal anesthesia on open abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair by comparing early outcomes before and after its implementation.

Introduction: The results of patients at one hospital who were judged eligible for conservative care of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) are examined in this research. Optimizing patient care and management tactics requires an understanding of the mortality trends and causes of death within this group.
Methodology: Sunderland Royal Hospital carried out a single-center retrospective analysis between May 2018 and January 2024.

Myocardial infarction (MI) is a multifactorial polygenic disease that develops as a result of a complex interaction of numerous genetic factors and the external environment. Accordingly, the contribution of each of them separately is usually not large and may significantly depend on the state of other accompanying factors. The purpose of the study was to search for informative predictors of MI risk based on polygenic analysis of polymorphic variants of (1) the antioxidant defense enzyme genes PON1 (rs662), PON2 (rs7493), CAT (rs1001179), MSRA (rs10098474) and GSTP1 (rs1695); (2) the apoptosis genes CASP8 (rs3834129), TP53 (rs1042522) and BCL2 (rs12454712); and (3) the inflammation genes CRP (rs1205), CX3CR1 (rs3732378), IL6 (rs1800795) and CCL2 (rs1024611).
