Rationale, Aims And Objectives: An increased interest in Central Auditory Processing Disorder has seen the publication of several guidelines to help inform clinical practice. The aim of this study was to conduct a systematic search and critically evaluate published guidelines to inform the ongoing development of evidence-based practice in this area.
Method: A systematic search of the literature was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews guidelines. Nominated guidelines were then critiqued using the Appraisal of Guidelines and Research and Evaluation (AGREE II) tool.
Results: Five clinical practice guidelines in the area of Central Auditory Processing Disorder were identified. The British Society of Audiology guideline achieved the highest rating for scope and purpose, rigour of development and applicability and overall score.
Conclusions: The AGREE II tool is an effective way to critically evaluate the quality of methodological reporting of clinical practice guidelines in the area of Central Auditory Processing Disorder and provides direction for the ongoing development of these guidelines in the future.

The plainfin midshipman fish (Porichthys notatus) relies on the production and reception of social acoustic signals for reproductive success. During spawning, male midshipman produce long duration advertisement calls to attract females, which use their auditory sense to locate and access calling males. While seasonal changes based on reproductive state in inner-ear auditory sensitivity and frequency encoding in midshipman is well documented, little is known about reproductive-state dependent changes in central auditory sensitivity and auditory neural responsiveness to conspecific advertisement calls.

Objectives: This study aimed to identify outcome clusters among individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI), 6 months to 10 years post-injury, in an Australian rehabilitation sample, and determine whether scores on 12 dimensions, combined with demographic and injury severity variables, could predict outcome cluster membership 1 to 3 years post-injury.
Setting: Rehabilitation hospital.
Participants: A total of 467 individuals with TBI, aged 17 to 87 (M = 44.
Hearing impairment (HI) disrupts social interaction by hindering the ability to follow conversations in noisy environments. While hearing aids (HAs) with noise reduction (NR) partially address this, the "cocktailparty problem" persists, where individuals struggle to attend to specific voices amidst background noise. This study investigated how NR and an advanced signal processing method for compensating for nonlinearities in EEG signals can improve neural speech processing in HI listeners.

Pattern separation and pattern completion in the hippocampus play a critical role in episodic learning and memory. However, there is limited empirical evidence supporting the role of the hippocampal circuit in these processes during complex continuous experiences. In this study, we analyzed high-resolution fMRI data from the "Forrest Gump" open-access dataset (16 participants) using a sliding-window temporal autocorrelation approach to investigate whether the canonical hippocampal circuit (DG-CA3-CA1-SUB) shows evidence consistent with the occurrence of pattern separation or pattern completion during a naturalistic audio movie task.

Objectives: Cochlear implant (CI) user functional outcomes are challenging to predict because of the variability in individual anatomy, neural health, CI device characteristics, and linguistic and listening experience. Machine learning (ML) techniques are uniquely poised for this predictive challenge because they can analyze nonlinear interactions using large amounts of multidimensional data. The objective of this article is to systematically review the literature regarding ML models that predict functional CI outcomes, defined as sound perception and production.
