Background/objective: Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent form of programmed cell death characterized by lipid peroxidation products (LPOs). A chemotherapeutic drug, 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), can induce epithelial mucositis and favor drug synergism with erastin in ferroptosis. tea saponin extract (TS) is known to exert antioxidative properties.

species, a widely distributed genus of red macroalgae, have gathered significant attention for their diverse medical applications attributable to their bioactive sulphated polysaccharides (SPs). This review examines the global narrative of various SP applications in terms of their therapeutic potential and mechanistic insights into the use of these SPs against a range of medical conditions, including cancer, inflammation, neurodegenerative disorders, diabetes, and immune dysfunctions. SPs extracted from and have demonstrated potent anti-tumour activities by inducing apoptosis through various mechanisms, including the upregulation of CD8 T cells and IL-2, inhibition of EGFR/MAPK/ERK signalling pathways, and activation of the Fas/FasL pathway.

(NS) is a promising medicinal plant with diverse therapeutic properties. This study aimed to investigate the impact of NS oil (NSO) on memory functions in rats with LPS (lipopolysaccharide)-induced neuroinflammation, as well as its effect on serum levels of inflammatory cytokines, neuropeptide Y (NPY) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). Male rats were divided into four groups: control, LPS-control, LPS+NSO 3 and 5 mL/kg.

Natural killer (NK) cell-derived exosomes (NK-Exos) are emerging as a promising avenue in cancer immunotherapy due to their inherent tumor-targeting properties and their capacity to deliver therapeutic agents directly to malignant cells. This research delves into the boosted anti-tumor potency of NK-Exos that has been genetically enhanced to overexpress NKG2D, a vital activating receptor, along with interleukin-24 (IL24), a cytokine renowned for its selective suppressive impact on tumor cells. NKG2D facilitates the recognition of tumor cells by binding to stress-induced ligands, while IL24 induces apoptosis and modulates immune responses to enhance tumor destruction.

Rising antifungal resistance prompted the World Health Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization to bring attention to the consequences of this threat to human, animal, and environmental health, and food security. In addition, there is an alarming cross-species pathogenicity. New antifungal agents are urgently needed, preferably with a low induction of antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
