There are very few published cases of periocular keratin horns that have been reported in children. This study reports 2 pediatric cases of periocular keratin horns. The authors describe a 7-year-old male child who developed a keratin horn on the right lower eyelid and a 16-year-old female who developed a caruncular keratin horn. Both cases underwent excision biopsy, and subsequent histology confirmed that there was no evidence of malignancy. However, on the basis of the current evidence in adults and the difficulty in drawing firm conclusions from the small number of reported pediatric cases, the authors suggest that these lesions should be carefully managed due to the possibility of premalignant or malignant change at the base of the lesion.

Purpose: This report describes the clinical and histological characteristics and management of a keratinized lesion of the palpebral conjunctiva in a 59-year-old male. The lesion was identified as a rare acantholytic variant of squamous cell carcinoma that atypically arose from a non-sun exposed region of palpebral conjunctiva. Management was complete excision via Mohs surgery.

Epidermal inclusion cysts in the periocular region are distinctive pathologies exhibiting varied clinical and radiological features, and they should be taken into consideration in the differential diagnosis of cystic lesions near the orbit. This article discusses the clinical and radiological details, along with the surgical results, of two individual cases of epidermal inclusion cysts, with different localization and without any preceding trauma, surgical history, or eyelid inflammation. In the first case, a substantial spherical structure closely connected to the tarsal plate was identified via excisional biopsy, whereas the second case involved a soft, oval tumor located at the outer right orbital corner, as determined clinically and validated through computed tomography.

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is a common skin cancer caused by deregulated hedgehog signaling. BCC is often curable surgically; however, for orbital and periocular BCCs (opBCC), surgical excision may put visual function at risk. Our recent clinical trial highlighted the utility of vismodegib for preserving visual organs in opBCC patients: 67% of patients displayed a complete response histologically.
