Objective: To observe cardiac ultrastructure and the expression of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) and hypoxia inducible factor-lα (HIF-lα) in electric shock death rats and to explore the application of these indexes as the basis of medical identification in electric shock death.
Methods: Seventy-two SD rats were randomly divided into electric shock death group, postmortem electric shock group and the control group. The changes of myocardial ultrastructure were observed by transmission electron microscope, and the expressions of myocardial HSP70 and HIF-1α were observed by immunohistochemical technology.
Results: Myocardial myofibril fracture, mitochondrial cristae and membrane dissolution, and disordered arrangement of Z lines and M lines were observed in electric shock rats. HSP70 and HIF-lα were strong positive expressions in the electric shock death group, significantly compared with the control and postmortem electric shock groups (P < 0.05).
Conclusion: The expressions of HSP70 and HIF-lα were obviously increased in electric shock death group, which may be used as the diagnostic indicator of electric shock death.

The outer membrane is the defining structure of Gram-negative bacteria. We previously demonstrated that it is a major load-bearing component of the cell envelope and is therefore critical to the mechanical robustness of the bacterial cell. Here, to determine the key molecules and moieties within the outer membrane that underlie its contribution to cell envelope mechanics, we measured cell-envelope stiffness across several sets of mutants with altered outer-membrane sugar content, protein content, and electric charge.

Resilient mounts play a vital role in anti-vibration and shock-absorption systems, making precise estimation of their static and dynamic stiffness essential for ensuring optimal mechanical performance and effective design. This study investigates the behavior of resilient mounts by analyzing their static and dynamic stiffness characteristics through the application of various hyperelastic constitutive models. Seven hyperelastic models were reviewed and systematically compared using numerical simulations, experimental data, and analytical solutions.

Ammonium dinitramide (ADN) is a new green oxidant, which is a kind of high-energy ionic liquid and has been widely used in the field of liquid propulsion. When it is used in laser plasma propulsion, its poor absorption coefficient significantly limits its application. To address the issue, this paper investigates the effects of the content of the infrared dye and the laser energy density on the laser propulsion performance of an ADN-based liquid propellant.

Background: Chagas cardiomyopathy (CCM) is a significant cause of ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death (SCD). Although, implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICD) have been used for all forms of non-ischemic cardiomyopathy (NICM), studies on ICD efficacy in CCM are scarce.
Objective: The present study aims to compare the long-term outcomes, mortality rates, and the occurrence of tachycardia therapies after ICD implantation in patients with CCM and NICM.

Introduction: Electric shock occurs when electricity passes through the body, causing a range of symptoms from mild tingling to potentially life-threatening injuries such as burns, seizures, and cardiac arrest. In rare cases, Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SSNHL) has also been associated with an electric shock.
Case Report: A 35-year-old male presented with left-sided hearing loss following an electric shock.
