Mobile ad hoc molecular nanonetwork (MAMNET) is a new paradigm for the realisation of future nanonetworks. In MAMNET, transmission of nanoscale information from nanomachine to infostation is based on collision and adhesion. In this study, the authors develop a realistic framework for encompassing the electronic structure of the neurotransmitter in the process of transmitting nanoscale information at a single input single output nanonetwork. Nanonetwork performance is evaluated in terms of average packet delay, throughput and incurred traffic rate. Numerical results demonstrate the influence of the neurotransmitter's electronic structure over the performance of nanonetworks.

We propose a low-polarization-sensitive 1 × 2 carrier-injection-type silicon photonic switch consisting of a single Mach-Zehnder interferometer, an input-/output-side polarization splitter and rotators, bidirectional light injection, and an external optical circulator. A polarization-dependent loss (PDL) of 1.3 dB was achieved using the proposed structure, whereas a PDL exceeding 17 dB was observed without the structure.

Heart rate variability (HRV) analysis during sleep plays a key role for understanding autonomic nervous system function and assessing cardiovascular health. The UNICA Sleep HRV analysis (UNICA-HRV) tool is a novel, open-source MATLAB tool designed to fill the gap in current HRV analysis tools. In particular, the integration of ECG and HRV data with hypnogram information, which illustrates the progression through the different sleep stages, ease the computation of HRV metrics in polysomnographic recordings.

Background: The large language model ChatGPT can now accept image input with the GPT4-vision (GPT4V) version. We aimed to compare the performance of GPT4V to pretrained U-Net and vision transformer (ViT) models for the identification of the progression of multiple sclerosis (MS) on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Methods: Paired coregistered MR images with and without progression were provided as input to ChatGPT4V in a zero-shot experiment to identify radiologic progression.

Optical computing, renowned for its light-speed processing and low power consumption, typically relies on the coherent control of two light sources. However, there are challenges in stabilizing and maintaining high optical spatiotemporal coherence, especially for large-scale computing systems. The coherence requires rigorous feedback circuits and numerous phase shifters, introducing system instability and complexity.

Long-Time Coherent Integration (LTCI) utilizes digital integration to combine multiple coherent cycles, thereby improving the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Our previous work introduced single-bit LTCI, an approach optimized for FPGA implementation, but faced challenges of output saturation at high SNR levels and inherent limitations in SNR gain (SNRG), which are insufficient for certain applications. This paper presents a threshold tracking method that improves the performance of single-bit LTCI in high-SNR scenarios.
