The problem of changing the dynamics of an existing DC motor control system without the need of making internal changes is considered in the paper. In particular, this paper presents a method for incorporating fractional-order dynamics in an existing DC motor control system with internal PI or PID controller, through the addition of an external controller into the system and by tapping its original input and output signals. Experimental results based on the control of a real test plant from MATLAB/Simulink environment are presented, indicating the validity of the proposed approach.

Inclusive and supportive classroom environments are essential, particularly during political and societal crises such as wars, disinformation, polarization, and rising populism and extremism. While existing research underscores the importance of such environments, few studies comprehensively examine the impact of anti-hate speech prevention programs on classroom dynamics and students' social development. This study addressed this gap by investigating the direct and indirect effects of the HateLess anti-hate speech prevention program on inclusive classroom climate, classroom cohesion, empathy, and self-efficacy among adolescents.

Metastasis represents a stage in which the therapeutic objective changes from curing disease to prolonging survival, as detection typically occurs at advanced stages. Technologies for the early identification of disease would enable treatment at a lower disease burden and heterogeneity. Herein, we investigate the vascular dynamics within a synthetic metastatic niche as a potential marker of disease progression.

Intricate crosstalk among various lung cell types is crucial for orchestrating diverse physiological processes. Traditional two-dimensional and recent three-dimensional (3D) assay platforms fail to precisely replicate these complex communications. Many lung models do not effectively reflect the multicellular complexity of lung tissue.

Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), which differentiate from tissue-resident macrophages, are recognized for their ability to influence cancer progression and metastasis. However, the specific role of Kupffer cells (KCs), the intrinsic macrophages of the liver, in the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains unclear. In this study, we describe a novel mechanism by which exosomes derived from HCC cells induce KCs to transition into TAMs, thereby facilitating the metastasis of HCC in an IL6-JAK1-ACAP4 axis-dependent manner.

The close interaction of mitochondrial fission and mitophagy, two crucial mechanisms, is key in the progression of myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury. However, the upstream regulatory mechanisms governing these processes remain poorly understood. Here, we demonstrate a marked elevation in Nr4a1 expression following myocardial IR injury, which is associated with impaired cardiac function, heightened cardiomyocyte apoptosis, exacerbated inflammatory responses, and endothelial dysfunction.
