Assumption-free and in situ resolving of the kinetics of ligand binding to colloidal nanoparticles (NPs) with high time resolution is still a challenge in NP research. A unique concept of using spectra library and stopped-flow together with a "search best-match" Matlab algorithm to access the kinetics of ligand binding in colloidal systems is reported. Instead of deconvoluting superimposed spectra using assumptions, species absorbance contributions (ligand@ZnO NPs and ligand in solution) are obtained by offline experiments. Therefrom, a library of well-defined targets with known ligand distribution between particle surface and solution is created. Finally, the evolution of bound ligand is derived by comparing in situ spectra recorded by stopped-flow and the library spectra with the algorithm. Our concept is a widely applicable strategy for kinetic studies of ligand adsorption to colloidal NPs and a big step towards deep understanding of surface functionalization kinetics.

We present two innovative approaches to investigate the dynamics of membrane fusion and the strength of protein-membrane interactions. The first approach employs pore-spanning membranes (PSMs), which allow for the observation of protein-assisted fusion processes. The second approach utilizes colloidal probe microscopy with membrane-coated probes with reconstituted proteins.

Microrobots are poised to transform biomedicine by enabling precise, noninvasive procedures. However, current magnetic microrobots, composed of solid monolithic particles, present fundamental challenges in engineering intersubunit interactions, limiting their collective effectiveness in navigating irregular biological terrains and confined spaces. To address this, we design hierarchically assembled microrobots with multiaxis mobility and collective adaptability by engineering the potential magnetic interaction energy between subunits to create stable, self-reconfigurable structures capable of carrying and protecting cargo internally.

Syngas has important industrial applications, and converting CO to CO is critical for syngas production. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have demonstrated significant potential in photocatalytic syngas conversion, although the impact of catalytic reactions on tunable H/CO ratios remains unclear. Herein, we present a novel bimetallic NiCo-MOF catalyst, NiCo, exhibiting high catalytic activity in syngas conversion due to the CO product self-driven effect.

Despite the broad catalytic relevance of metal-support interfaces, controlling their chemical nature, the interfacial contact perimeter (exposed to reactants), and consequently, their contributions to overall catalytic reactivity, remains challenging, as the nanoparticle and support characteristics are interdependent when catalysts are prepared by impregnation. Here, we decoupled both characteristics by using a raspberry-colloid-templating strategy that yields partially embedded PdAu nanoparticles within well-defined SiO or TiO supports, thereby increasing the metal-support interfacial contact compared to nonembedded catalysts that we prepared by attaching the same nanoparticles onto support surfaces. Between nonembedded PdAu/SiO and PdAu/TiO, we identified a support effect resulting in a 1.
