Subcutaneous fluid accumulation in the bone window area is a common complication after decompressive craniectomy. If not promptly addressed, it may progress to serious complications such as intracranial infection and hydrocephalus, significantly affecting treatment outcomes and prognosis. However, there is currently no standardized approach for managing subcutaneous fluid accumulation.

Inborn errors of immunity (IEI) are a heterogenous group of rare monogenic disorders that affect innate or adaptive immunity, resulting in susceptibility to life-threatening infections and autoimmunity. Allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) is a valuable curative option for children with IEI. We conducted a retrospective single-center study on the outcome of HCT in children with IEI.

Background: Knee injuries are common among elite intercounty Gaelic games players (collectively GAA players).
Aims: The primary aim was to examine knee pain, function, and quality of life in retired elite male GAA players. Secondary objectives were to (i) report the incidence of previous knee surgery and total knee replacement, (ii) assess medication usage, and (iii) investigate any associations between a history of knee injury and/or knee surgery and knee pain, function, and quality of life among retired elite male GAA players.

Background: Nosocomial pneumonia is common in trauma patients and associated with an adverse prognosis. We recently externally validated and recalibrated an existing formula to predict nosocomial pneumonia risk. Identifying more potential predictors could aid in a more accurate prediction of nosocomial pneumonia risk in level-1 trauma patients.
