Objective: Endometrial cancer is the fourth most common cancer among women in developed countries. Affected patients may benefit from systemic chemotherapy, alone or in combination with targeted therapies if the disease is clinically diagnosed prior to expansion and metastasis to other organs. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic role of c-kit mutations and comparision with tumor type and grade in human uterine endometrial carcinomas.
Materials And Methods: Seventy five patients with endometrial carcinoma and seventy five normal controls were studied for possible mutations in exon 17 of the c-kit gene using single strand conformational polymorphisms and sequencing.
Results: c-kit mutation in exon 17 appeared to be significantly different between endometrial carcinoma and normal endometrium. The pattern and frequency of the mutations was also shown to be different between tumors from different stages.

Background/aim: Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are rare cancers originating from Cajal's stromal cells in the gastrointestinal tract. The most common driver mutation in these cancers is the KIT mutation. This report presents a case of response to low-dose imatinib in a patient with GIST harboring KIT exon 11 W557_K558 deletion.

Although gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) can present with various histological characteristics, GIST mimicking perineurioma has not been previously reported. We present the case of a 47-year-old woman diagnosed with GIST after laparoscopic resection of a stomach tumor near the lesser curvature of the gastric body close to the cardia. Morphological features resembled a perineurioma.

Multi-targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitor QLNC-3A6 Di-maleate, a structurally novel small molecule compound, has therapeutic efficacy for the treatment of canine cutaneous mast cell tumor (CMCT) caused by mutations in the c-Kit gene. Since pharmacokinetic (PK) information plays an important role in the development and application of new drugs, etc., a rapid, highly sensitive and selective UHPLC-MS/MS analytical method was developed and validated for the first time in this study for the quantitative detection of QLNC-3A6 in canine plasma.
