An annotated list of the Cossidae of the Russian portion of the Caucasus including 20 species from 11 genera and two subfamilies is presented for the first time. A new species Cryptoholcocerus daghestanica sp. nov. is also described.

Chemical, electrophysiological, and field trapping experiments were carried out to identify the female-produced sex pheromone of the asparagus moth, Parahypopta caestrum, a very serious pests of asparagus cultivations in southern Europe. Gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry and electroantennogram detection (GC-MS-EAD) analysis of hexane and solid-phase microextraction (SPME) extracts of sex pheromone glands of calling females consistently detected four compounds eliciting EAG responses in male moth antennae. According to their GC retention times, mass spectra, and comparative EAG analyses with reference standards, these EAD-active compounds were identified as (Z)-9-tetradecenol (Z9-14:OH), (Z)-5-tetradecenyl acetate (Z5-14:Ac), (Z)-7-tetradecenyl acetate (Z7-14:Ac), and (Z)-9-tetradecenyl acetate (Z9-14:Ac), respectively.

An updated Catalogue of Cossoidea (Lepidoptera) from India.

We catalogue 165 species in 81 genera representing six families of Cossoidea present in India. Sesiidae is the most dominant family in India, consisting 89 species in 38 genera, followed by Cossidae with 47 species in 28 genera, Brachodidae with 13 species in six genera, Metarbelidae with 12 species in seven genera, Ratardidae with three species in single genus and the Dudgeoneidae is known by single species. A comprehensive data on the species diversity of all the families of Indian Cossoidea, with information on type species, type locality, synonyms, clarifications, and distribution in different parts of India and Globe, are provided.
