An evidence-based description of aseptic tibial and femoral diaphyseal nonunions without segmental defects is based on a systematic search of MEDLINE. Aseptic nonunion of the femoral or tibial diaphysis without segmental defects and with an in situ nail, treated with reamed exchange nailing or augmentative plating and bone grafting, has consistently high union rates. Aseptic nonunion without segmental defects and with in situ plate and screw fixation is best managed with revision plate and screw fixation and autogenous bone graft. Various techniques and methods of biological stimulation have relatively high union rates.

Background And Aims: Probe-based confocal endomicroscopy (pCLE) allows real-time microscopic visualization of the intestinal mucosa surface layers. Despite remission achieved through anti-tumor necrosis factor or vedolizumab therapy, anomalies in the intestinal epithelial barrier are observed in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients. Our study aimed to assess these abnormalities in non-IBD individuals and compare them with IBD patients in endoscopic remission to identify the associated factors.

Background/purpose: The functional and aesthetic reconstruction of the mandible can be achieved by using the double-barrel vascularized free fibula flap. The purpose of this study was to use multiple integrated techniques to more effectively reconstruct the mandible, some contains of our unique ideas.
Materials And Methods: 21 patients were included in this study.

Background: Jejunal diverticula (JD) are rare clinical conditions that are typically incidentally detected and asymptomatic. When acute complications arise, surgical exploration may be necessary for accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. In this report, we present a case of multiple JD complicated by gastrointestinal bleeding and review the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of JD to increase clinician awareness of this condition.

In humans, inositol polyphosphate-5-phosphatase e (INPP5E) mutations cause retinal degeneration as part of Joubert and MORM syndromes and can also cause non-syndromic blindness. In mice, mutations cause a spectrum of brain, kidney, and other anomalies and prevent the formation of photoreceptor outer segments. To further explore the function of Inpp5e in photoreceptors, we generated conditional and inducible knockouts of mouse Inpp5e where the gene was deleted either during outer segment formation or after outer segments were fully formed.

Assembling natural proteins into large, strong, bone-mimetic scaffolds for repairing bone defects in large-animal load-bearing sites remain elusive. Here this challenge is tackled by assembling pure silk fibroin (SF) into 3D scaffolds with cortical-bone-like lamellae, superior strength, and biodegradability through freeze-casting. The unique lamellae promote the attachment, migration, and proliferation of tissue-regenerative cells (e.
