A new single reference perturbation partition is proposed for restricted open-shell Hartree-Fock (ROHF) and complete active space self-consistent field (CASSCF) orbitals. It is a sum of one-particle operator which is implicitly defined. When the operator acts on a ROHF or CASSCF orbital, the resultant eigenvalue is the orbital's corresponding orbital energy coming from the ROHF or CASSCF calculation. HF, F2, and N2 with stretched bonds are used for the size extensivity test. Results indicate that the first three-order energies calculated with the new partition are size extensive. Single reference perturbation calculations for H2O, NH3, and CH4 with CASSCF orbitals have been performed and compared with other methods like MRCI, MRCI+Q, MRPT2, and MRPT3. The single reference nature of the present perturbation theory is also shown with computations of the singlet-triplet separation of the CH2 and SiH2 radicals.

Utilizing UAV and orthophoto data with bathymetric LiDAR in google earth engine for coastal cliff degradation assessment.

This study introduces a novel methodology for estimating and analysing coastal cliff degradation, using machine learning and remote sensing data. Degradation refers to both natural abrasive processes and damage to coastal reinforcement structures caused by natural events. We utilized orthophotos and LiDAR data in green and near-infrared wavelengths to identify zones impacted by storms and extreme weather events that initiated mass movement processes.

The analysis of electrophysiological recordings of the human brain in resting state is a key experimental technique in neuroscience. Resting state is the default condition to characterize brain dynamics. Its successful implementation relies both on the capacity of subjects to comply with the requirement of staying awake while not performing any cognitive task, and on the capacity of the experimenter to validate that compliance.

Previous studies have demonstrated the dynamic changes in chromatin structure during retinal development correlate with changes in gene expression. However, those studies lack cellular resolution. Here, we integrate single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and single-cell assay for transposase-accessible chromatin sequencing (scATAC-seq) with bulk data to identify cell-type-specific changes in chromatin structure during human and murine development.

Very-light-intensity exercise as minimal intensity threshold for activating dorsal hippocampal neurons: Evidence from rat physiological exercise model.

Exercise benefits the brain, particularly the learning and memory center-the dorsal hippocampus (dHPC)-and holds promise for therapeutic applications addressing age-related cognitive deficits. While moderate-to-vigorous-intensity exercise is commonly recommended for health benefits, our translational research proposes the effectiveness of very-light-intensity exercise in enhancing cognitive functions. However, the intensity-dependent characteristics of HPC activation have yet to be fully delineated; therefore, there is no evidence of whether such easily accessible exercises for people of all ages and most fitness levels can activate HPC neurons.
