Autoantibodies to the γ-aminobutyric acid receptor, subtype B (GABAB), are a known cause of limbic encephalitis. The spectrum of clinical manifestations attributable to this antibody is not well defined at the present time. Here we present a case of GABAB encephalitis presenting with encephalopathy, status epilepticus, dysautonomia, and acute heart failure. To our knowledge, heart failure and dysautonomia have not yet been reported with this syndrome.
Background: Neprilysin (NEP) is a metalloprotease that has become a therapeutic target for the treatment of heart failure and hypertension. However, the significance of NEP in chronic liver diseases has rarely been investigated. In this study, we investigated the serum NEP levels in patients with chronic liver disease and their relationship with clinical parameters.
Background: Whether inhaled corticosteroids (ICSs) reduce major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) in people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is debated.
Objectives: To establish, within people with COPD, (1) whether ICS reduced MACE rates (acute coronary syndrome (ACS), heart failure (HF), ischaemic strokes or cardiovascular-specific death) compared with long-acting bronchodilators; and (2) whether drug class, incident usership or patient cardiovascular history influenced the ICS-MACE relationship.

Sustained myocardial hypertrophy or left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) triggered by pressure overload is strongly linked to adverse cardiovascular outcomes. Here, we investigated the clinical relationship between serum HSP90α (an isoform of HSP90) levels and LVH in patients with hypertension or aortic stenosis (AS) and explored underlying mechanisms in pressure overload mouse model. Levosimendan is a positive inotrope and vasodilator used in patients with acute and chronic decompensated heart failure. It is metabolized into OR-1855 (inactive metabolite), which is further acetylated into OR-1896 (active metabolite having a prolonged half-life, hence a sustained effect).
