Aims And Objectives: To compare and evaluate the variation in recorded bite forces in patients with mandibular fractures undergoing open reduction and rigid internal fixation using standard 2.0 versus 2.0 mm locking miniplates.

Materials And Methods: A prospective randomized study was conducted for the treatment of mandibular fractures. Twenty adult patients with 31 mandibular fractures requiring an open reduction and internal fixation were included in the study. The sample was divided into two groups depending upon whether the patients received 2.0 mm non-locking (standard) or 2.0 mm locking miniplates for rigid fixation respectively. Bite force was evaluated at 1st, 3rd and 6th week after the open reduction and rigid fixation using miniplates.

Results: A statistically significant difference was not found in the clinical parameters such as pain, swelling, infection, paresthesia, hardware failure, and mobility between the fracture segments. The results showed that amongst locking vs non-locking miniplates, the former showed a greater bite force enhancement when compared to baseline values(post-trauma).A comparison between 2nd day post-operative vs 6th week post-operative values showed a significant increase in bite force in Group 1 (non-locking) (p < 0.05) whereas the values Were highly significant (p < 0.001) in Group 2 (locking Plate).

Conclusion: The findings were suggestive that the efficacy of locking miniplates plate in mandibular fracture was superior in terms of bearing the masticatory loads during osteosynthesis of the fracture. However, the clinical results were almost similar to those seen with non-locking miniplate osteosynthesis.

Background: The selection guideline for the implant-supported bar connectors (ISBC) of hybrid denture is lacking. This study investigated the maximum von Mises stress (vMS), stress distribution, and displacement of various geometric ISBC in mandibular hybrid dentures, as well as the maximum principal stress (σmax) in the acrylic resin part, through finite element analysis.

Methods: Four different geometric cross-sectional patterns for mandibular ISBC-L, Y, I, and Square-of equal volume, based on the "All-on-4" concept, were created.

In the course of pipe jacking construction, the carrying-soil effect frequently arises, influenced by factors such as excavation unloading, ongoing disturbance from successive pipe sections, and the progressive accumulation of soil adhesion. The pipe jacking slurry serves as a critical agent for friction reduction and strata support, essential for the secure advancement of the construction process. This study introduces the Microbial-Induced Calcium Carbonate Precipitation (MICP) technology into the realm of pipe jacking slurry, aiming to enhance its friction-reduction capabilities and the stability of the soil enveloping the pipe.

Objectives: To evaluate various oral functions in patients with jaw defects after oral tumour surgery and to clarify factors associated with their quality of life (QoL).

Background: In patients with jaw defects, oral function and QoL are severely impaired. No studies have evaluated oral functions of patients with jaw defects and examined their relationships with QoL.

Purpose: To analyze the safety of closed traction appliance in the treatment of impacted anterior teeth and its effect on pulp blood flow and masticatory function.

Methods: A total of 80 patients with impacted anterior teeth who received treatment from January 2017 to December 2022 were selected, and randomly divided into experimental group and control group with 40 cases in each group. The two groups of patients were treated with occlusion adjustment and orthodontic traction.

The Aim Of The Study: Was to determine the possibility of calculating the parameters of the occlusal surface of fixed dentures.

Materials And Methods: An analysis of dependence between the area of the occlusal surface and the area of the support structures (tooth root/implant), between the severity of the occlusal relief (tubercles of teeth) on the length of the root/implant was carried out.

Results: The nearness of the Kurlandsky periodontal coefficients and Oksman masticatory coefficients with the calculated coefficients obtained on the basis of 3D analysis of the lateral teeth anatomy has been established.
