Background: Myoepithelial carcinoma is a very rare yet aggressive tumor in children. Surgical intervention and local radiotherapy often lead to post-therapy complications, affecting both the aesthetic and functional quality of life in survivors. Hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers offer a minimally invasive option to improve the appearance and quality of life for these patients once they are declared tumor-free.

Capicua transcriptional repressor (CIC)-rearranged sarcoma (CRS) is a rare and recently described tumor that most commonly affects patients between 15 and 30 years of age. It is an undifferentiated round cell malignancy, with a disease defining CIC fusion, with double homeobox 4 (DUX4) being the most common partner. Here, we report a 77-year-old woman who presented with a cutaneous thigh mass with a clinical morphology suggesting Merkel cell carcinoma.

Childhood scars can lead to hideous aesthetic and functional deformities in young adults, which can be particularly distressing when involving the face and the breast in a female. Aesthetic restoration requires replacement of the whole or a part of the scarred skin by soft, pliable, and texture-matching skin, which nearly always is in short supply. Dermal regeneration templates (DRTs) can help in skin regeneration that is almost always aesthetically superior to most flaps.

Localized inflammation in dengue vaccine-induced skin rash is not associated with continuous presence of dengue virus genome.

J Invest Dermatol

December 2024

Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics and Vaccine Testing Center, Larner College of Medicine, University of Vermont, Burlington, VT, USA. Electronic address:

Vaccination with the tetravalent live attenuated dengue virus (DENV) vaccines TV003 and TV005 causes a mild, relatively localized erythematous maculopapular skin rash in most dengue-naïve vaccinees. Human challenge model DENV strains, DENV2Δ30 and DENV3Δ30, trigger a confluent skin rash over most of the body in most unvaccinated participants. To determine the etiology of these rashes we performed in situ hybridization for DENV genome and assessed cellular infiltration by hematoxylin/eosin staining in skin biopsies from humans infected with live attenuated dengue vaccine DENV2Δ30 or DENV3Δ30 challenge strains.
