Infectious hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHNV), a member of family Rhabdoviridae and genus Novirhabdoviridae, causes a highly lethal disease of salmon and trout. In Iran IHNV was first detected in 2001 on farms rearing rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). To evaluate the genetic relationships of IHNV from northern and western Iran, the sequences of a 651-nt region of the glycoprotein gene were determined for two Iranian isolates. These sequences were analyzed to evaluate their genetic relatedness to worldwide isolates representing the five known genogroups of IHNV. Iranian isolates were most closely related to European isolates within the genogroup E rather than those of North American genogroups U, M and L, or the Asian genogroup J. It appears that Iranian IHNV was most likely introduced to Iran from a source in Europe by the movement of contaminated fish eggs.

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection remains one of the most common and challenging post-transplant infections. Children with inborn errors of immunity (IEI) and T-cell dysfunction are at high risk for CMV infection, which can be complicated by refractory and/or resistant cases. This case describes a Nepalese girl with MHC class II deficiency, who presented at 3 months of age with CMV and Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia.

Background: We developed a United States-based real-world data resource to better understand the continued impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on immunocompromised patients, who are typically underrepresented in prospective studies and clinical trials.

Methods: The COVID-19 Real World Data infrastructure (CRWDi) was created by linking and harmonizing de-identified HealthVerity medical and pharmacy claims data from 1 December 2018 to 31 December 2023, with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 virologic and serologic laboratory data from major commercial laboratories and Northwell Health; COVID-19 vaccination data; and, for patients with cancer, 2010 to 2021 National Cancer Institute Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results registry data.

Results: The CRWDi contains 4 cohorts: patients with cancer; patients with rheumatic diseases receiving pharmacotherapy; noncancer solid organ and hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients; and people from the general population including adults and pediatric patients.

The outcome of refractory/relapsed systemic Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (R/R-sALCL), especially for anaplastic lymphoma kinase-1 (ALK-1)-negative disease, remains dismal even after autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AHSCT). The intensification of both salvage and conditioning regimens, without increasing the toxicity, could improve the outcome of AHSCT in R/R-sALCL. Based on the successful experience of the incorporation of antiD20 monoclonal antibodies in the treatment of B-Cell Lymphomas, we designed a salvage and conditioning regimen incorporating the antiCD30-conjugated antibody (Brentuximab Vedotin, BV) to standard chemotherapy regimens, and we describe herein the clinical course of a patient with AKL-ve, R/R-sALCL, who received salvage regimen BV + DHAP, followed by AHSCT with preparative regimen consisted of BV plus standard BEAM.

Telomere shortening in donor cell-derived acute promyelocytic leukemia after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation: a case report.

Donor cell leukemia (DCL), in which malignancy evolves from donor's stem cells, is an infrequent complication of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) derived from donor cell is extremely rare and only four cases have been reported to date. Herein we report a case of donor cell-derived APL developing 32 months after haploidentical peripheral blood stem cell transplantation using posttransplant cyclophosphamide for myelodysplastic syndromes.

Nuclear receptors regulate hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and peripheral immune cells in mice and humans. The nuclear orphan receptor NR2F6 (EAR-2) has been shown to control murine hematopoiesis. Still, detailed analysis of the distinct stem cell, myeloid, and lymphoid progenitors in the bone marrow in a genetic loss of function model remains pending.
