Introduction: Renal artery embolization (RAE) is an important treatment option for patients with acute renal haemorrhage. Many types of embolic agents are presently available. We describe here the use of gel foam embolization for the treatment of acute renal haemorrhage.

Material And Methods: A total of 12 patients (10 males and 2 females) underwent RAE. The indications in all cases were persistent renal haemorrhage which was secondary to renal biopsy (10 cases), blunt trauma to abdomen (1 case) and percutaneous nephrostomy (1 case). Embolic agent used was gel foam in all but one case. Embolization was done by selective catheterization of the feeding segmental / lobar renal artery branches.

Results: Successful obliteration of the vascular malformation with no post-procedure complications were achieved in all cases.

Conclusion: RAE with gel foam is a relatively inexpensive, safe, effective and minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of life-threatening renal haemorrhage, preserving healthy renal parenchyma and renal function.

The traditional foams can only block heat loss, and cannot effectively store and release heat energy on demand to extend the insulation time. In this work, the paraffin-rich monolayer microcapsules were prepared using negatively charged phosphorylated cellulose nanofibers (CNF) as the emulsifier of Pickering emulsion. The positive chitosan was assembled on the surface of the monolayer microcapsules through an electrostatic layer-by-layer self-assembly method to prepare the bilayer microcapsules.

Electrode materials with a deformation capability are vital to the development of flexible supercapacitors. However, the preparation of porous carbons with a deformability remains challenging. Herein, a compressible carbon foam has been successfully prepared using a polydopamine/melamine sponge (PDA/MS) as the precursor material.

Supercritical CO, as an environmentally friendly and pollution-free fluid, has been applied in various EOR techniques such as CO flooding. However, the low viscosity of the gas leads to issues such as early breakthrough, viscous fingering, and gravity override in practical applications. Although effective mobility-control methods, such as CO WAG (water alternating gas)-, CO foam-, and gel-based methods, have been developed to mitigate these phenomena, they do not fundamentally solve the problem of the high gas-oil mobility ratio, which leads to reduced gas sweep efficiency.

Trichloroethylene (TCE) is widely used in various industrial applications, leading to significant environmental and public health concerns due to its toxicity and persistence. Current nonthermal liquid-phase TCE treatment methods, including electrochemical processes, typically produce liquid byproducts that require additional separation steps, limiting their efficiency. To overcome these challenges, this study introduces an innovative electrochemical approach for the direct conversion of TCE gas into less harmful gaseous products, utilizing a Cu/Ni alloy 3D foam electrode integrated with a poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)-sodium polyphosphate (SPP) gel membrane system.
