Experiments were performed in 30 biomannequins. Single puncture subarachnoidal perfusion cleared the subarachnoidal spaces of the brain and medulla free of preinjected dye. The clearance was more radical at the base, in the brain hemisphere cysterns and sulci, at the pons, medullar and spinal levels. This can be regarded as anatomical ground for the expedience of puncture perfusion in order to clear the subarachnoidal space.

Background: Cerebral autoregulation is a robust regulatory mechanism that stabilizes cerebral blood flow in response to reduced blood pressure, thereby preventing cerebral ischaemia. Scientists have long believed that cerebral autoregulation also stabilizes cerebral blood flow against increases in intracranial pressure, which is another component that determines cerebral perfusion pressure. However, this idea was inconsistent with the complex pathogenesis of normal pressure hydrocephalus, which includes components of chronic cerebral ischaemia due to mild increases in intracranial pressure.

Objective: Computed tomography perfusion (CTP) imaging is crucial in quantifying cerebral blood flow (CBF) and thereby making an endovascular treatment (EVT) after large vessel occlusion. However, CTP is prone to overestimating the ischemic core. We sought to delineate the optimal regional CBF (rCBF) thresholds of pre-EVT CTP.

Transseptal Sheath Perfused with High Concentration Heparinized Saline for Reducing Sheath-associated Thrombus.

Pacing Clin Electrophysiol

December 2024

Department of Cardiology, Shanghai General Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, School of Medicine, Shanghai, China.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on the use of transseptal sheaths (TSS) for atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation, aiming to prevent thromboembolism through a simple saline flush management technique.
  • In the retrospective study involving over 4,700 AF patients, complications were low, with no acute strokes, and only a few thromboembolic issues occurring post-procedure.
  • The prospective study showed no thrombus formation in 127 procedures using high concentration heparinized saline, demonstrating that this method is both safe and effective for preventing thrombus during AF radiofrequency ablation.

Purpose: The location characteristic of the lumbar 3 sympathetic trunk under Computed Tomography (CT) was discovered through 106 cases, imaging analysis after successful lumbar 3 sympathetic radiofrequency thermocoagulation operations serving the clinic and reducing the operation time.

Methods: There are 113 patients underwent bilateral L3 lumbar sympathetic thermal radiofrequency procedures in our hospital from January 2017 to January 2021, with 106 cases of successful procedure. Four operation image distances were measured: 1.

Gold standard cannulation for peripheral veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) is from the femoral artery and vein by using ultrasound guided puncture technique percutaneously. The Seldinger technique by using the guide wire is the major approach to place the cannula. Direct cut-down exposure technique is another option if the percutaneous approach is difficult.
