"It's Like You're Feeding Your Child Twice": Barriers and Facilitators to Human Milk Feeding Children With Cystic Fibrosis.

Pediatr Pulmonol

January 2025

Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy/Immunology, Cystic Fibrosis and Sleep, Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

Background: Cystic Fibrosis Foundation guidelines recommend human milk (HM) as the ideal source of nutrition for children with CF (cwCF). Despite known pulmonary and nutritional benefits, fewer cwCF ever receive HM compared to the general population. Early nutrition choices are preference-sensitive, yet little is known about the factors that impede or sustain HM feeding among parents of cwCF.

Background: Insulinoma is a neuroendocrine tumor, the main manifestation of which is hypoglycemia. However, the symptoms of hypoglycemia can be non-specific for a long time, especially outside provocative conditions, and quite often the tumor manifests from a life-threatening condition - hypoglycemic coma. In this regard, timely laboratory diagnosis of insulinoma and determination of its aggressive course is one of the priorities in modern researches.

Unlabelled: Immune escape is a critical hallmark of cancer progression and underlies resistance to multiple immunotherapies. However, it remains unclear when the genetic events associated with immune escape occur during cancer development. Here, we integrate functional genomics studies of immunomodulatory genes with a tumor evolution reconstruction approach to infer the evolution of immune escape across 38 cancer types from the Pan-Cancer Analysis of Whole Genomes dataset.

The TEAD family of transcription factors are best known as the DNA-binding factor in the Hippo pathway, where they act by interacting with transcriptional coactivators YAP and TAZ (YAP/TAZ). Despite the importance of the Hippo pathway, the in vivo functions of TEAD in mammals have not been well established. By comparing mouse mutants lacking TEAD1 and TEAD2 (TEAD1/2) to those lacking YAP/TAZ, we found that TEAD1/2 have both YAP/TAZ-dependent and -independent functions during ventral telencephalon development.

Establishing the anterior-posterior body axis is a fundamental process during embryogenesis, and the fruit fly, , provides one of the best-known case studies of this process. In Drosophila, localized mRNA of serves as anterior determinant (AD). Bicoid engages in a concentration-dependent competition with nucleosomes and initiates symmetry-breaking along the AP axis by promoting chromatin accessibility at the loci of transcription factor (TF) genes that are expressed in the anterior of the embryo.
