The study aimed to identify prognostic markers to improve the management of patients with HPV positive OSCC Methods: We determined the ratio of HPV E6*I and E6*II splice variants by quantitative RT-PCR in 177 HPV positive OSCC and correlated the findings with other clinicopathological data Results: There was no significant difference in locoregional recurrence (HR 1.72 p = 0.24) and death (HR 1.65, p = 0.13) among patients whose tumors had an E6*I/*II ratio ≥1 compared with an E6*I/*II ratio of <1. Univariate analysis showed that patients with E6*I/*II ≥1 OSCC were more likely to have an event. In the multivariable analysis, there was a trend for more events in patients with E6*I/*II ratio ≥1 (HR 1.70, 95% CI 0.95-3.03, p = 0.07) CONCLUSION: Our data suggest that the use of HPV 16 spliced transcripts may help to predict for poorer outcomes in patients with HPV positive OSCC.

Human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HPV-positive HNSCC) has distinct biological characteristics from HPV-negative HNSCC. Using an AI-based analytical platform on meta cohorts, we profiled expression patterns of viral transcripts and HPV viral genome integration, and classified the tumor microenvironment (TME). Unsupervised clustering analysis revealed five distinct and novel TME subtypes across patients (immune-enriched, highly immune and B-cell enriched, fibrotic, immune-desert, and immune-enriched luminal).

Unlabelled: Infertility, both primary and secondary, is strongly influenced by microbiological factors, with the vaginal microbiota playing a key role in reproductive health.
Objective: The aim of this study was to characterize the vaginal microbiota of 136 Mexican women diagnosed with infertility-primary (n = 58) and secondary (n = 78)-by evaluating the presence of pathogenic bacterial species and their associations with infertility conditions.
Methods: Samples were obtained through cervical swabs, and microorganism identification was performed using qPCR techniques.

Background: Cancer-associated fibroblasts have been reported to play a central role in driving cancer progression, promoting metastasis, and conferring resistance to therapy in HNSCC.
Methods: Indirect and direct co-culture models of HPV-positive and HPV-negative HNSCC cells with fibroblasts were developed to study the effect of fibroblasts on cancer cells. ELISA was used to measure IL-6 secretion in these models.

In 2012, the Department of Visceral Surgery of the Lausanne University Hospital CHUV implemented a dedicated high-resolution anoscopy (HRA) outpatient clinic for surveillance and follow-up purposes. This 10-year longitudinal study analyzed 537 patients (2214 visits) using a structured screening protocol. Dysplastic lesions were detected in 49% of patients, predominantly low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (LSILs, 74%).

Background: The incidence and mortality of anal squamous cell carcinoma (ASCC) are rising, with greater than 80% of cases linked to human papillomavirus (HPV), primarily HPV16. Post-treatment surveillance can be challenging due to the limitations of anoscopy, digital anal rectal exam (DARE), and imaging. Plasma tumor tissue modified viral (TTMV)-HPV DNA has shown strong sensitivity, specificity, and predictive value in detecting the recurrence of HPV-driven oropharyngeal cancer.
