Physicians, caregivers and patients themselves must be alert to the onset of and changes in motor and non-motor features during the course of Parkinson's disease (PD). Parallel laboratory routine assessments are necessary because of the evolving impairment of the general health status of the individual. A number of potential biomarkers for the diagnosis of PD are currently under investigation, with diagnosis early in the disease course a particular goal, even before the onset of motor symptoms. The aim of this guideline article is to provide user-friendly, clinical evidence-based recommendations for using laboratory pathological testing for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of PD, for assessing its time course, and managing complications of long-term dopaminergic therapy and the disabling motor features that develop in the later stages of the disease.

Knowledge about total RNA molecules in Parkinson's disease is limited. This gene expression profiling study was conducted with a preclinical experimental design using a mouse model to examine the molecular-biological characteristics and the pathological implication of total RNA gene interaction in Parkinson's disease in silico. In silico analysis of total RNA molecules, the Gene Expression Omnibus database, published results, and preliminary findings of available patient samples apply.

Background: Longitudinal qualitative data on what matters to people with Parkinson's disease are lacking and needed to guide patient-centered clinical care and development of outcome measures.
Objective: To evaluate change over time in symptoms, impacts, and relevance of digital measures to monitor disease progression in early Parkinson's.
Methods: In-depth, online symptom mapping interviews were conducted with 33 people with early Parkinson's at baseline and 1 year later to evaluate (A) symptoms, (B) impacts, and (C) relevance of digital measures to monitor personally relevant symptoms.

The psychological symptoms of Parkinson's disease (PD) worsen the quality of life of patients and their partners. However, these non-motor symptoms (mainly anxiety and depression) remain undiagnosed and undertreated in PD. Here, we report the benefits of a 12-week intervention using talking therapy (psychotherapy and counselling).

Supplementing textbooks with primary literature in teaching neuroscience is a growing practice associated with several positive outcomes, such as increased content knowledge, research and data skills, and critical thinking. This pedagogical approach, however, still needs further development to make it accessible to instructors and valuable to students. This article describes a series of published articles we used in an undergraduate neuroimmunology course.

Herein, we review the literature on Parkinson's disease (PD) management and summarize the progress in medical, surgical, and assisted therapeutic modalities for motor and non-motor symptoms. A thorough search strategy was implemented to retrieve all relevant articles and identify the best evidence from different databases including Scopus, PubMed, Google Scholar, the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, and Evidence-Based Medicine reviews from the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society. Multiple terms, such as Parkinson, tremor, predominant, Parkinson management, deep brain stimulation, LCIG, ablative surgery for PD, medical management of PD, and assistive devices for PD, were used for screening.
