This preliminary study compared culture and latex agglutination in the diagnosis of bacterial meningitis. Only 23.08 per cent of meningitis patients were bacterial meningitis by culture. The causative organisms detected by culture and latex agglutination respectively were as follows: Streptococcus pneumoniae 7.69, 5.77 per cent: Haemophilus influenzae 1.92, 1.92 per cent: Neisseria meningitidis 1.92, 5.77 per cent: Salmonella species 5.77 per cent, -: Viridans streptococci 1.92 per cent, - and Nonfermentative gram-negative rod 3.85 per cent -. There was no latex reagent for the latter three organisms.

Background: Urinary catheterization is considered as one of the most common, frequently performed and basic skill in patient care while catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI) in the most common nosocomial infection. Catheter material plays an important part in terms of infection and bacterial colonization. With this study, we aim to compare the rate of bacterial colonization in two most commonly used catheter type; Latex and Silicone indwelling catheters in males with acute urinary retention.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to perform a cross-cultural adaptation of the Objective Structured assessment of Technical Skill (OSATS) tool into Chinese and to determine its reproducibility and validity in China.
Methods: A Chinese version of OSATS was created through a process of translation, back-translation, expert panel evaluation, pilot testing and then its validation. 59 candidates were included in the study in an international Chinese simulation center including medical students (5th year of medical studies), surgical fellow, attending surgeons, attending professors and professors of surgery.

Natural rubber latex membrane (NRL) is a biocompatible macromolecule that stimulates angiogenesis and promotes bone repair. Similarly, β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) is an osteoconductive and osteoinductive bioceramic widely used as a bone substitute. Here, we investigated the combined use of these biomaterials in the guided bone regeneration process for calvarial defects in rats.

Aims: Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized by the formation of Lewy bodies (LBs), primarily constituted of α-synuclein (α-Syn). Microglial cells exhibit specific reactivity toward misfolded proteins such as α-Syn. However, the exact clearance mechanism and related molecular targets remain elusive.
