Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) technologies are considered to be better technique for the degradation or mineralization of many recalcitrant compounds and pollutants. In the present study heterogeneous sonocatalytic degradation of a model organic compound such as Malachite green oxalate (MGO) was carried out in the aqueous phase. Zinc oxide nanorods were prepared by precipitation method employing zinc acetates as precursors and were characterized by FT-IR, XRD, FE-SEM and EDAX analysis. Degradation of MGO in the aqueous phase was studied in detail under the sonocatalytic process. Effects of pH, dye concentration, oxidant concentration, kinetics and effect of electrolytes on dye degradation were carried out to check the efficiency of the sonocatalyst. Effect of energy input on the degradation processes was also investigated. The degradation of dye molecules were monitored by UV-visible spectrophotometer and Chemical Oxygen demand (COD). The dye molecules were readily degraded at above 90% in the pH range 5.0-7.0 under ultrasound with zinc oxide nanorods. The interference of electrolytes like NaCl, KCl, NaCO, NaHCO and MgSO on the degradation of dye molecules were also studied on the sonocatalytic degradation of MGO. From the kinetic studies it was observed that at lower initial concentration of dye molecules the degradation efficiency was above 90%. The rate of the reaction decreased on increasing the initial dye concentrations of the dye molecules. It was observed that the complete mineralization of dye molecules was achieved without the formation of toxic by-products. The reusability of the catalyst also showed the effective degradation of the dye molecules up to five cycles without loss of the catalytic activities.

It has become increasingly evident that the conformational distributions of intrinsically disordered proteins or regions are strongly dependent on their amino acid compositions and sequence. To facilitate a systematic investigation of these sequence-ensemble relationships, we selected a set of 16 naturally occurring intrinsically disordered regions of identical length but with large differences in amino acid composition, hydrophobicity, and charge patterning. We probed their conformational ensembles with single-molecule Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET), complemented by circular dichroism (CD) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy as well as small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS).

Aptamers are oligonucleotide-based affinity reagents that are increasingly being used in various applications. Systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment (SELEX) has been widely used to isolate aptamers for small-molecule targets, but it remains challenging to generate aptamers with high affinity and specificity for targets with few functional groups. To address this challenge, we have systematically evaluated strategies for optimizing the isolation of aptamers for (+)-methamphetamine, a target for which previously reported aptamers have weak or no binding affinity.

Although MoSe-based photodetectors have achieved excellent performance, the ultrafast photoresponse has limited their application as an optoelectronic synapse. In this paper, the enhancement of the rhodamine 6G molecule on the memory time of MoSe is reported. It is found that the memory time of monolayer MoSe can be obviously enhanced after assembly with rhodamine 6G exhibiting synaptic characteristics in comparison to pristine MoSe.

Lead ion (Pb) is a common environmental contaminant, extremely toxic, persistent, and easily adsorbed, concentrated, and enriched by agricultural products. Ingestion of this ion can result in health problems for humans, including neurological disorders, heart disease, brain damage, and mental deficiency. In this research, a sensitive fluorescent biosensing method for detecting Pb was developed using DNAzyme as the target recognition element and SYBR Green (SG) fluorescent dye as the signal indicator.

Immunofluorescence is highly dependent on antibody-antigen interactions for accurate visualization of proteins and other biomolecules within cells. However, obtaining antibodies with high specificity and affinity for their target proteins can be challenging, especially for targets that are complex or naturally present at low levels. Therefore, we developed AptaFluorescence, a protocol that utilizes fluorescently labeled aptamers for in vitro biomolecule visualization.
