Patients with ischemic-type cerebral dyshematopoiesis have disturbances of blood cell function (their enhanced aggregation and reduction of leucocyte and erythrocyte deformation). Calcium antagonist nifedipine can neutralize these disturbances but it reduces blood cell sensitivity to it. The effectiveness of nifedipine can be increased by giving it in combination with prostacyclin. Blood cell sensitivity to this combination of agents changes insignificantly. It is recommended that nifedipine and medicinal agents which increase blood prostacyclin concentration be used in combination.

Ischemic stroke is the most common cerebrovascular disease and the leading cause of permanent disability worldwide. Recent studies have shown that stroke development and prognosis are closely related to abnormal tryptophan metabolism. Here, significant downregulation of 3-hydroxy-kynurenamine (3-HKA) in stroke patients and animal models is identified.

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is a highly aggressive and malignant brain tumor originating from glial cells, characterized by high recurrence rates and poor patient prognosis. The heterogeneity and complex biology of GBM, coupled with the protective nature of the blood-brain barrier (BBB), significantly limit the efficacy of traditional therapies. The rapid development of nanoenzyme technology presents a promising therapeutic paradigm for the rational and targeted treatment of GBM.

Problem: Regulatory B-cells (Bregs, CD19CD24CD38) are a specialized B-cell subset that suppresses immune responses and potentially contribute to the maintenance of an immune-privileged environment for fetal development during pregnancy. However, little is known about the surrounding immunological environment of Bregs in gestational physiology. The relationship of regulatory T-cells (Tregs, CD4CD25CD127FoxP3) to Bregs in coordinating immunoregulation during pregnancy is unknown.

In this study, we investigated age-related changes in clinical laboratory data and their association with mortality in dogs from the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study. By analyzing complete blood count (CBC) and biochemistry data from 2'412 Golden Retrievers over 16,678 visits, we observed significant changes during the first 2 years of life and throughout aging. Based on these observations, we developed a biological aging clock using a LASSO model to predict age based on blood markers, achieving an accuracy of R = 0.

Background: Contrast-associated acute kidney injury (CA-AKI) is frequent in patients with chronic kidney disease who are submitted to cardiac endovascular procedures using iodinated contrast. In hemoadsorption, cartridges containing styrene-divinylbenzene sorbent resin are applied to remove substances from the blood through an extracorporeal circuit. Importantly, iodinated contrast is also removed via adsorption.
