Telescopic systems constructed using computer aided design and computer aided manufacture (CAD/CAM) can overcome many drawbacks associated with conventionally constructed ones. Since retention is considered the most important function of these retainers, this scoping review aimed to discuss and summarize the parameters that affect this function in CAD/CAM-manufactured telescopic crowns and to compare their retention force values with the recommended retention force. An electronic search was done in Pubmed and Google Scholar databases using different keyword combinations to find the related articles.

Statement Of Problem: Nonrigid retainer systems for removable implant superstructures are associated with negative effects such as rocking and increased load on the denture base. Rigid retainer systems such as telescopic crowns reduce these negative effects, but their fabrication demands highly skilled dental technicians and is therefore expensive. Whether a protocol with prefabricated retainers will reduce production time is unclear.

Objective: The objective of the study was to investigate the clinical outcome for electroplated telescopic removable dental prostheses (E-RDPs) with zirconia primary crowns.
Materials And Methods: Sixty E-RDPs, with primary crowns manufactured from either cobalt-chromium alloy or zirconia, were fabricated for 56 participants. Electroplating was used to produce gold copings directly on the telescopic primary crowns.
