Unlabelled: Marginal integrity is one of the most crucial aspects involved in the clinical longevity of resin composite restorations.

Objective: To analyze the marginal integrity of restorations produced with a model composite based on polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS).

Material And Methods: A base composite (B) was produced with an organic matrix with UDMA/TEGDMA and 70 wt.% of barium borosilicate glass particles. To produce the model composite, 25 wt.% of UDMA were replaced by POSS (P25). The composites P90 and TPH3 (TP3) were used as positive and negative controls, respectively. Marginal integrity (%MI) was analyzed in bonded class I cavities. The volumetric polymerization shrinkage (%VS) and the polymerization shrinkage stress (Pss - MPa) were also evaluated.

Results: The values for %MI were as follows: P90 (100%) = TP3 (98.3%) = B (96.9%) > P25 (93.2%), (p<0.05). The %VS ranged from 1.4% (P90) to 4.9% (P25), while Pss ranged from 2.3 MPa (P90) to 3.9 MPa (B). For both properties, the composite P25 presented the worst results (4.9% and 3.6 MPa). Linear regression analysis showed a strong positive correlation between %VS and Pss (r=0.97), whereas the correlation between Pss and %MI was found to be moderate (r=0.76).

Conclusions: The addition of 25 wt.% of POSS in methacrylate organic matrix did not improve the marginal integrity of class I restorations. Filtek P90 showed lower polymerization shrinkage and shrinkage stress when compared to the experimental and commercial methacrylate composite.

The current treatment of leishmaniasis is confronted with significant challenges, including limited efficacy, adverse effects, and parasite resistance to drugs. The search for alternative therapeutic options, including the utilization of natural products, has demonstrated considerable promise. In this study, the antileishmanial activity of the flavonoid hesperetin against Leishmania donovani, the causative agent of visceral leishmaniasis, was reported for the first time.

Background: Minimally invasive dentistry is now becoming the forefront of restorative dentistry, involving less traumatic treatment protocols, conservation of tooth structure and surrounding tissues, enhancing the long-term survivability of treated teeth, and improving the overall quality of life for patients.

Objective: The current case report was conducted to evaluate acquiring deep subgingival interproximal carious lesions by the mean of thermacut bur gingivectomy, in terms of patient satisfaction through pain evaluation, Bleeding on Probing, Pocket Depth, Crestal Bone Level evaluation, and restoration evaluation using modified USPHS criteria.

Material And Methods: A patient with a deep proximal cavity in the posterior tooth was thoroughly examined and underwent Thermacut Bur Gingivectomy (TBG) after caries removal followed by direct resin composite restoration of the prepared cavity.

In terms of rotator cuff repair, there is a goal for complete repair and healing, as rotator cuff integrity correlates with clinical and functional results. Retear has been shown to have a significant influence on progression toward osteoarthritis, and patients with an intact supraspinatus show superior abduction and flexion strength. However, in cases where complete repair may not be possible and/or cost limitations may prohibit augmentation, partial repair can provide a respectable outcome.

Effect of crystallization and finish line curvature on the marginal integrity of lithium disilicate crowns.

J Prosthodont

January 2025

Department of Prosthodontics and Research Institute of Oral Science, College of Dentistry, Gangneung-Wonju National University, Gangneung, South Korea.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effect of crystallization and finish line curvature on the integrity of lithium disilicate crowns fabricated by using partially crystallized (P) and fully crystallized (F) blocks.

Materials And Methods: Forty-eight lithium disilicate crowns were fabricated based on the designated lithium disilicate blocks and finish line curvatures. The specimens were divided into four groups (n = 12 each): P block with a curved finish line (PC), P block with a straight finish line (PS), F block with a curved finish line (FC), and F block with a straight finish line (FS).
