Cardiac computerized tomography (CT) has evolved from a research tool to an important diagnostic investigation in cardiology, and is now recommended in European, US, and UK guidelines. This review is designed to give the reader an overview of the current state of cardiac CT. The role of cardiac CT is multifaceted, and includes risk stratification, disease detection, coronary plaque quantification, defining congenital heart disease, planning for structural intervention, and, more recently, assessment of ischemia. This paper addresses basic principles as well as newer evidence.
To investigate whether coronary artery disease (CAD) burden is associated with plasma levels of the myocardial biomarkers Troponin I (TropI) and NT-proBNP in a large population-based sample using a cross-sectional design. Coronary computerized tomography (CT) angiography was performed in 25,859 subjects without a history of atherosclerotic disease from SCAPIS study (age 50-65, 52% women). TropI and NT-proBNP were measured in plasma.

Introduction: Congenital Tracheal Stenosis (CTS) with complete cartilaginous rings is a rare but potentially life-threatening condition in paediatric patients. Currently, the most common approach is slide tracheoplasty (ST) with sternotomy under cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Intending to make the procedure less invasive and consider the variety of associated conditions, we have tailored the approach to our patients, who were treated by a multidisciplinary airway team.

Introduction Chest pain is a common, expensive cause of admission to the hospital from the Emergency Department (ED). The History, ECG, Age, Risk Factors, and Troponin (HEART) score is a risk stratification tool often used to determine the disposition of chest pain patients. This study evaluates the association of age, gender, HEART score, diabetes mellitus (DM), hypertension (HTN), hypercholesterolemia, family history (Fam Hx), and tobacco use with major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) and hospital readmission.
Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), caused by cardiac arrest (CA) is a refractory condition in clinical settings. The clinician and family members have to make a hard decision: continue expensive life-sustaining therapy or withdraw the expensive intervention. The core problem lies in "whether this patient can still be awakened and achieve neurological recovery".
