The terminology used to discuss third-party reproduction, as with other new biomedical processes, can ease or impede communication and even influence behaviour. In an effort to sensitize analysts and stakeholders to variations in terminology and to facilitate communication on issues arising from international surrogacy arrangements, this paper examines variations in terms used. We introduce some of the issues previously raised by scholars concerned with analysis of discourse related to third-party reproduction. We then survey the terms used in English-language discussions to denote specific actors, including 'surrogates,' 'intended parents,' gamete providers and children, as well as terms used to describe 'surrogacy arrangements.' We conclude with a discussion on navigating and negotiating the use of these various and value-laden terms.

Background: To evaluate the influence of sodium bicarbonate Ringer's solution (BRS) combined with positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) on the internal environment in patients who have undergone laparoscopic bariatric surgery.
Methods: A total of 128 patients undergoing laparoscopic bariatric surgery were randomly divided into the control group (group C), the PEEP group (group P), the BRS group (group B), and the BRS combined with the PEEP group (group BP). The results of arterial blood gas analysis, including pH value, base excess (BE), concentrations of electrolyte, and lactate (Lac) were documented before intravenous infusion (T0) and 5 min after the surgery (T1).

Purpose: Spousal authorisation for abortion (SA) is in direct conflict with the right to bodily autonomy. The World Health Organisation guideline on abortion specifically recommends that abortion should be available on request without third-party authorisation. The objectives of this study were to: a) determine which countries insist by law on SA, b) describe shared characteristics of these countries, c) assess the impact of such legislation on access to abortion and d) evaluate the chances of repeal of such laws.

Introduction: Women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) are more likely to give birth to large for gestational age (LGA) infants, due to abnormalities in glucose metabolism during pregnancy. Although previous studies have explored the risk factors for LGA delivery in GDM women, the results are quite different and still lack of unified understanding.
Objective: To explore the elements linked to LGA delivery in GDM women, and thus provide a reference for medical staff to formulate relevant clinical interventions.
