Two cadmium halide complexes, catena-poly[[chloridocadmium(II)]-di-μ-chlorido-[chloridocadmium(II)]-bis[μ2-4-(dimethylamino)pyridin-1-ium-1-acetate]-κ(3)O:O,O';κ(3)O,O':O], [CdCl2(C9H12N2O2)]n, (I), and catena-poly[1-cyanomethyl-1,4-diazoniabicyclo[2.2.2]octane [[dichloridocadmium(II)]-μ-oxalato-κ(4)O(1),O(2):O(1'),O(2')] monohydrate], {(C8H15N3)[CdCl2(C2O4)]·H2O}n, (II), were synthesized in aqueous solution. In (I), the Cd(II) cation is octahedrally coordinated by three O atoms from two carboxylate groups and by one terminal and two bridging chloride ligands. Neighbouring Cd(II) cations are linked together by chloride anions and bridging O atoms to form a one-dimensional zigzag chain. Hydrogen-bond interactions are involved in the formation of the two-dimensional network. In (II), each Cd(II) cation is octahedrally coordinated by four O atoms from two oxalic acid ligands and two terminal Cl(-) ligands. Neighbouring Cd(II) cations are linked together by oxalate groups to form a one-dimensional anionic chain, and the water molecules and organic cations are connected to this one-dimensional zigzag chain through hydrogen-bond interactions.

Triclinic polymorph of bis-[2-methyl-3-(pyridin-2-yl)imidazo[1,5-]pyridin-2-ium] tetra-chloridocadmium(II).

Department of Inorganic Chemistry and Technology, Jožef Stefan Institute, Jamova 39, 1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia.

The crystal structure of the title organic-inorganic hybrid salt, (CHN)[CdCl], (I), has been reported with four mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit in a monoclinic cell [Vassilyeva (2021 ▸). , , 7713-7722]. While using two different aldehydes in the oxidative cyclization-condensation involving CHNH·HCl to prepare a new monovalent cation with the imidazo[1,5-]pyridinium skeleton, a new polymorph was obtained for (I) in space group 1 and a unit cell with approximately half the volume of the monoclinic form.

Selective adsorption of copper by amidoxime modified low-temperature biochar: Performance and mechanism.

Sci Total Environ

January 2025

School of Environmental and Chemical Engineering, Shanghai University, Shanghai 200444, China. Electronic address:

Biochars prepared at 300-700 °C were functionalized with amidoxime groups to evaluate their selective adsorptive removal capabilities towards Cu(II), Cd(II), and Pb(II). The results show that the amidoxime modification significantly enhanced the the Cu(II) adsorption capacity of the biochar prepared at 300 °C (AOBC300) by 1.6 times, reaching 0.

Green synthesized nanoscale zero-valent iron impregnated tea residue biochar efficiently captures metal(loid)s for sustainable water remediation.

Pristine or modified nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI) synthesized though conventional chemical reduction have been widely recommended for remediating metal(loid)-contaminated water. However, their eco-friendliness is often challenged with the concomitant bio-toxicity and secondary environmental risks. Alternatively, this study utilized waste tea leaves extract and remaining residue as the reducing agent and pyrolytic matrix to innovatively fabricate a green synthesized nZVI impregnated tea residue biochar (G-nZVI/TB).

A new inorganic-organic hybrid complex, namely [CuL(DMF)]·HO (Cu-L), has been synthesized using a sulfur-rich ligand, 3,3',3''-(1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triyltrisulfanediyl)tripropanoic acid (HL) and metal cations under hydrothermal conditions. The metal atoms are interconnected to form a paddle-wheel-like structure, which is ultimately linked to the ligands to create a three-dimensional architecture. Cu-L, employed to fabricate an electrochemical sensor denoted as Cu-L@GCE (glassy carbon electrode), is capable of simultaneously detecting Cd and Pb at approximately -0.

This article presents a study of cadmium removal from nitrate medium using adsorption in calcined mesoporous silica (MCM-C), mesoporous silica doped (MCM_DIOPA), and calcined and impregnated mesoporous silica (MCM@DIOPA), with diisooctylphosphinic acid (DIOPA). The sorbents were synthesized via a sol-gel method. Several characterization techniques, such as XRD, FTIR spectroscopy, N sorption and elemental analysis, have been used to determine the main structural, textural, and chemical properties of prepared sorbents.
