In the purification process of zinc hydrometallurgy, the spectra of copper and cobalt seriously overlap in the whole band and are interfered with by the spectra of zinc and nickel, which seriously affects the detection results of copper and cobalt in zinc solutions. Aiming to address the problems of low resolution, serious overlap, and narrow characteristic wavelengths, a novel spectrophotometric method for the robust detection of trace copper and cobalt is proposed. First, the Haar, Db4, Coif3, and Sym3 wavelets are used to carry out the second-order continuous wavelet transform on the spectral signals of copper and cobalt, which improves the resolution of copper and cobalt and eliminates the background interference caused by matrix zinc signals and reagents.

Aerosol size distribution is a critical parameter in these models, and the lognormal function is commonly used to mathematically represent it. This study aims to handle the lack of a solid criterion for determining the number of lognormal modes and introduces an improved scheme that leverages the characteristics of the second derivative (SD) of the Gaussian curve to identify the mode amount and to initialize mode parameters for fitting.

Introduction: Pyrazinamide, one of the first-line antituberculosis drugs, displays variability in drug exposure that is associated with treatment response. A simple, low-cost assay may be helpful to optimize treatment. This study aimed to develop and validate a point-of-care assay to quantify the concentration of pyrazinamide in saliva.

Purpose: To assess the impact of working distance (WD) on optical distortion in optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging and to evaluate the effectiveness of optical distortion correction in achieving consistent retinal Bruch's membrane (BM) layer curvature, regardless of variations in WD.
Methods: Ten subjects underwent OCT imaging with four serial macular volume scans, each employing distinct WD settings adjusted by balancing the sample and reference arm of the OCT interferometer (eye length settings changed). Either of two types of 30° standard objectives (SOs) was used.

The fixed dose combination of Rosuvastatin and ezetimibe has recently received approval from the FDA for the treatment of elevated levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol in adults. Herein, an eco-friendly and highly sensitive spectrofluorimetric method was developed and validated for simultaneous determination of rosuvastatin and ezetimibe in commercial capsules. The developed method involved synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy combined with second derivative spectroscopy to resolve the overlapping fluorescence spectra of rosuvastatin and ezetimibe.
