Purpose: The primary objective of this study was to assess the prevalence of temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) and comorbid factors (sleep bruxism and headaches). This study was a cross-sectional population survey in the city of Maringá, state of Paraná, Brazil.
Materials And Methods: Axes I and II of the Research Diagnostic Criteria for TMD (RDC/TMD) were used for assessment of TMD signs and symptoms. The population was users of the Brazilian public health system (SUS), of both sexes, between the ages of 20 and 65 years, and not seeking treatment for TMD.
Results: The selected population (N = 1,643) was composed mostly of (a) women (65.9%), (b) married or single individuals (90.6%), (c) Caucasians (70.1%), (d) individuals aged 32.7 ± 10.3 years, (e) individuals earning a medium income (75.1%), and (f) those who had completed a high school education or higher (79.9%). According to the chronic pain grade classification (CPG) in the RDC/TMD Axis II, 36.2% of the population had some degree of TMD pain (CPG I to IV); however, only 5.1% had severe limitation due to pain (CPG III or IV). In the RDC/TMD Axis I diagnoses, 29.5% presented with muscle disorders (group I), 7.9% with disk displacements (group II), and 39.1% with other joint disorders (group III). Headaches were present in 67.9% and awake and sleep bruxism in 30% and 33.4% of the population, respectively.
Conclusion: The prevalence of signs and symptoms of TMD was high in this population, but with low disability; however, the proportion of patients in need of treatment was much lower.

Background: This case report details a true hemifacial hyperplasia with temporomandibular joint ankylosis case managed through a multidisciplinary approach involving department of oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, and prosthodontics.
Case Presentation: A 42-year-old female patient presented with a chief complaint of limited mouth opening. Clinically, the patient exhibited severe facial asymmetry due to hyperplasia of the left facial region.
The Aim Of The Study: Was to assess an impact of positioning occlusal splints made by various methods on the position of the articular disc of the temporomandibular joint according to MRI data.
Materials And Methods: 40 patients (8 men and 32 women) aged from 18 to 60 years with temporomandibular joint pain dysfunction syndrome were examined (ICD-10 code K07.60).

Objective: Limited research exists regarding malpractice in dentistry. Temporomandibular joint disorders (TMDs) include intra- and extra-articular conditions that are managed by general dentists, orofacial pain specialists, and oral and maxillofacial surgeons. In this study, we investigate the rate of malpractice court trials involving treatment of TMD by these specialists.

The aim of this study was to verify the correlation of self-reported sleep and awake bruxism with demographic characteristics, oral behaviors, anxiety, temporomandibular disorder (TMD) signs and symptoms, sleep quality, and orthodontic treatment history in dental students. A total of 104 students of Dentistry located in Paraná (South Brazilian State) answered the following self-administered questionnaires: Oral Behavior Checklist, State Anxiety Inventory, TMD signs and symptoms questionnaire, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Associations between possible awake bruxism (AB) and sleep bruxism (SB) with sleep quality, anxiety, and TMD were analyzed by Poisson Regression with robust variance.

The study is aimed to perform magnetic resonance (MR) cartigram of the articular disc in patients with asymptomatic and symptomatic temporomandibular disorders (TMD). Thirty-nine volunteers were divided into three groups: 16 symptomatic TMD, 16 asymptomatic TMD, and 7 controls. The articular disc was divided into three segments (anterior, middle, and posterior) and analyzed using morphological magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and T2 mapping sequences.
