Objective: To explore the regulation effect of Rheum palmatum (R. palmatum) L. on NF-κB signaling pathway of ALF mice.

Methods: The intraperitoneal injection of d-GalN/LPS was employed for the model building. Mice in the treatment group and positive control group were given the R. palmatum L. and bifendate before the model building. Mice in the normal group were given the intraperitoneal injection of equivalent normal saline for continuously 3 d. After 16 h of model building, the blood was collected from eyeballs of mice and then mice were executed. The measurement was performed on the content of ALT, AST, NO and Il-1β in the serum of mice in each group, as well as the activity of Caspase 3 and Caspase 8 in the liver tissue. HE staining was employed to detect the pathological morphology of liver; and the western blot was used to detect the expression of iNOS, COX-2, Bax, Bcl-2, PCNA, NF-κB p65 and IκBα.

Results: The content of ALT, AST, NO and Il-1β in the serum and the activity of Caspase 3 and Caspase 8 in the liver tissue were increased in the mice of ALF model group. Besides, the expression of iNOS, COX-2 and Bax was increased, the expression of Bcl-2 and PCNA was decreased, the phosphorylation of NF-κB p65 and IκBα was significant and the treatment group of R. palmatum L. could inhibit such change.

Conclusions: Through NF-κB signaling pathway, the R. palmatum L. could reduce the content of enzyme of liver function and inflammation factor in the serum of ALF mice, regulate the expression of cell apoptosis-related protein and improve the symptoms of ALF mice.

Background: COVID-19 mRNA vaccines have demonstrated 95 % efficacy in the general population. However, their immunogenicity in adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D), who exhibit weaken immune responses, remains insufficiently explored.

Methods: Longitudinal analysis of innate immune responses following PRR-agonists and BNT162b2 vaccine stimulations, along with S-specific antibody responses, memory T cell recall responses, and RNA-sequencing were assessed in eight T1D adolescents and 16 healthy controls at six different timepoints.

Spinal cord injuries (SCIs) can lead to severe neuropathic pain and increased risk of myocardial infarction and heart failure; therefore, the use of analgesics against SCI-induced pain should be minimized because of their adverse effects on the cardiovascular system. Ivabradine, a blocker of hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide-gated cation (HCN) channels, is used as a bradycardic agent, but recent studies focused on it as an analgesic agent for peripheral neuropathic pain. However, the analgesic effects of ivabradine on central neuropathic pain, such as SCI-induced pain, have not been examined.

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease characterized by hyperglycemia caused by the destruction of insulin-producing β cells. Viral infection is an important environmental factor which is associated with the islet autoimmunity in genetically susceptible individuals. Loss of β-cells and triggering of insulitis following viral infection could result from several non-exclusive mechanisms.

This article aims to introduce a novel full-endoscopic anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) procedure to treat cervical myelopathy. Adoption of endoscopic anterior cervical procedures has been lagging due to safety concerns and the necessity of placing an interbody cage. We have developed novel instrumentation and a modified percutaneous anterior cervical approach that allows a safe and reproducible full-endoscopic ACDF.

Polysorbates (PS), as non-ionic surfactants, contribute significantly to the stability of proteins in formulations. However, their lack of chromophore groups makes them difficult to detect with high sensitivity and simplicity. The charged aerosol detector (CAD) is an emerging and universal detector that can provide highly sensitive response signals to non-volatile or semi-volatile substances, such as esters, acids, oxidized aldehydes, and contaminant ions in PS.
