α-Fe2O3 nanosheet-assembled hierarchical hollow mesoporous microspheres (HHMSs) were prepared by thermal transformation of nanosheet-assembled hierarchical hollow mesoporous microspheres of a precursor. The precursor was rapidly synthesized using FeCl3·6H2O as the iron source, ethanolamine (EA) as the alkali source, and ethylene glycol (EG) as the solvent by the microwave-assisted solvothermal method. The samples were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric (TG) analysis, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherm. The effects of the microwave solvothermal temperature and EA amount on the morphology of the precursor were investigated. The as-prepared α-Fe2O3 HHMSs exhibit a good photocatalytic activity for the degradation of salicylic acid, and are promising for the application in wastewater treatment.

Although Mg-Li dual metal-ion batteries are proposed as a superior system that unite safety of Mg-batteries and performance of Li-ion based systems, its practical implantation is limited due to the lack of reliable high-performance cathodes. Herein, we report a high-performance Mg-Li dual metal-ion battery system based on highly pseudocapacitive hierarchical TiO-B nanosheet assembled spheres (NS) cathode. This 2D cathode displayed exceptional pseudocapacitance (a maximum of 93%) specific capacity (303 mAh gat 25 mA g), rate performance (210 mAh gat 1 A g), consistent cycling (retain ∼100% capacity for 3000 cycles at 1 A g), Coulombic efficiency (nearly 100%) and fast-charging (∼12.

Metal-organic frameworks with well-organized low-dimensional architectures provide significant thermodynamic and/or kinetic benefits for diverse applications. We present here the controlled synthesis of a novel class of hierarchical zirconium-porphyrin frameworks (ZrPHPs) with nanosheet-assembled hexagonal prism morphology. The crystal growth behaviors and structural evolution of ZrPHPs in an additive-modulated solvothermal synthesis are examined, showing an "assembly-hydrolysis-reassembly" mechanism towards the formation of 2D nanosheets with ordered arrangement.

Coupled photocatalysis without cocatalysts can maximize the utilization of photons and atoms, which puts forward higher demands on photocatalysts. Polymeric carbon nitride (CN) has become the most promising photocatalyst, but still suffers from major drawbacks of insufficient catalytic sites and low quantum efficiency. Herein, we report a fluid shear stress-assisted molecular assembly to prepare ultrathin-nanosheet-assembled acanthosphere-like CN (ASCN) with nitrogen vacancy (Nv) and carbonyl modification.

A simple and reliable method is developed to fabricate Ag-nanoparticle-decorated Co(OH) nanoflowers grafted on polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanopillar arrays as uniform and sensitive surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrates. First, Co(OH)-nanosheet-assembled nanoflowers are achieved on the highly uniform PAN nanopillar arrays via electrochemical deposition. Then, Ag nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) are decorated onto the Au-nanoparticle-precoated Co(OH) nanoflowers based on a spontaneous redox reaction (SRR) between the silver ions and Co(OH) nanosheets at room temperature.

Achieving high atomic utilization and low cost of desirable Pt/TiO catalysts is a major challenge for room temperature HCHO oxidation. Here, the strategy of anchoring stable Pt single atoms by abundant oxygen vacancies over TiO-nanosheet-assembled hierarchical spheres (Pt/TiO-HS) was designed to eliminate HCHO. A superior HCHO oxidation activity and CO yield (∼100% CO yield) at relative humidity (RH) > 50% over Pt/TiO-HS is achieved for long-term run.
