One hundred cases aged 4-20 years and suffering from chronic tonsillitis were examined for Toxoplasma antibodies using indirect immunofluorescent test (IFAT). It was found that 37% of them were positive for toxoplasmosis. 41.5% of hypertrophic cases and 32% of atrophic ones had toxoplasmosis but the difference was statistically insignificant. The mean antibody titres were higher in both atrophic and hypertrophic cases than in the control group. The patients aged from 11-20 years had a higher titre of Toxoplasma antibodies than those aged below ten years. Trials to detect tachyzoites, cysts or pseudocysts in fixed paraffin sections using Hx & E, PAS or Giemsa stains were not successful. The histopathological picture of tonsils removed from positive cases of toxoplasmosis showed characteristics of toxoplasmic lymphadenitis.

Background: Dermatomyositis is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting muscles and skin, often associated with an increased risk of cancer. Specific autoantibodies, including anti-TIF1 (Transcription Intermediary Factor 1), have been linked to this risk. We present a case of dermatomyositis in a male patient positive for anti-TIF1 antibodies, subsequently diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the tonsil, a novel association not previously documented.

Methods: A retrospective observational study at a nonacademic general hospital described outcomes of CLT patients undergoing base of tongue (BOT) reduction via transoral robotic surgery (TORS). Objective: This study aims to explore the clinical effects of simultaneous balloon eustachian tuboplasty (BET) in treating chronic secretory otitis media (COME) in children with bilateral tonsil and adenoid hypertrophy (TAH), providing a theoretical basis for the clinical application of BET.
Methods: From January 2023 to January 2024, 30 children diagnosed with COME and bilateral TAH were included in this retrospective study at our hospital. The cohort comprised a total of 55 affected ears.
