This paper shows that, by simply adding a triangle aperture (TA) in front of a camera lens, iris autofocus can be easily achieved. Through the TA, the corneal reflection of a light source forms a triangle glint on the image plane. The size and orientation of the glint can be used to infer the amount and the direction of the focus adjustment. A gradient-descent autofocus control law is proposed for uncalibrated lenses. Results from theoretical analysis and real experiments show that the proposed method is more efficient and accurate than the conventional circular aperture approach.

To develop porous organic frameworks, precise control of the stacking manner of two-dimensional porous motifs and structural characterization of the resultant framework are important. From these points of view, porous molecular crystals formed through reversible intermolecular hydrogen bonds, such as hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOFs), can provide deep insight because of their high crystallinity, affording single-crystalline X-ray diffraction analysis. In this study, we demonstrate that the stacking manner of hydrogen-bonded hexagonal network (HexNet) sheets can be controlled by synchronizing a homological triangular macrocyclic tecton and a hydrogen-bonded cyclic supramolecular synthon called the phenylene triangle.

Background: In this morphometric study, we describe the anatomy of the TIGR triangle, which is bordered by the tentorial surface of the cerebellum, the internal cerebral vein and vein of Galen complex, and the vein of Rosenthal. These structures define the window, or deep keyhole, to access the pineal region in non-midline supracerebellar infratentorial approaches.
Methods: The posterior fossa anatomy of 16 patients was studied in virtual reality (VR), and the TIGR triangles were defined and measured with special attention on its angular orientation in the posterior fossa.

In this work, a large aperture two-dimensional (2D) piezoelectric laser scanner system with an onboard sensor to detect the scanner's deflection angle has been designed and prototyped. The proposed 2D laser scanner is driven using three amplified piezoelectric actuators assembled in an equilateral triangle configuration to provide structural stability and compactness. To overcome the nonlinearity that derives from the hysteresis effect of the piezoelectric actuators, the tip-tilt principle and the control schemes of the 2D scanner are analyzed and compared.

An acentric aluminoborate (ABO), NaCs[Al{BO}{BO(OH)}] (), has been made under solvothermal conditions. The alternations of AlO tetrahedra and BO triangles first build up the 2D ABO layer with 6-MR (membered-ring) windows. The fanlike BO(OH) cluster adorns the layer through Al-O-B linkages, producing a pair of unclosed channels with 7-MR aperture on the lateral side of the layers.
