AACN CSI Academy, part 3: Introducing the Massachusetts CSI Nursing Delirium Collaborative.

Nurs Manage

Justin DiLibero is a clinical nurse specialist for Trauma and Surgical Critical Care at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Mass., a graduate of the AACN CSI Academy, and a cofounder of the Massachusetts CSI Nursing Delirium Collaborative. Erica Edwards is an attending nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Mass., a graduate of the AACN CSI Academy, and a cofounder of the Massachusetts CSI Nursing Delirium Collaborative. Dave Hanson is the regional director of Professional Practice and Clinical Standards for Providence Health and Services in Burbank, Calif., and served as the lead faculty for the Boston cohort of the AACN CSI Academy.

Published: November 2015

In the final installment of our three-part series, we reveal how the Boston cohort of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) Clinical Scene Investigator (CSI) Academy launched a collective to improve patient safety and quality outcomes related to delirium.

From the 1950s to the present, the main tool for obtaining fungal industrial producers of secondary metabolites remains the so-called classical strain improvement (CSI) methods associated with multi-round random mutagenesis and screening for the level of target products. As a result of the application of such techniques, the yield of target secondary metabolites in high-yielding (HY) strains was increased hundreds of times compared to the wild-type (WT) parental strains. However, the events that occur at the molecular level during CSI programs are still unknown.

Microbial reduction of selenium oxyanions, highly soluble, mobile and toxic inorganic selenium compounds, to insoluble selenium nanoparticles (Se NPs) is a widely spread phenomenon which is of geochemical, environmental and biotechnological importance. While selenite bioreduction is known for a wide variety of microorganisms, selenate bioreduction is not so common and has mostly been documented for anaerobes, with merely a few reported cases related to aerobic or microaerobic conditions. In some biogenic Se NPs of microbial origin, the presence of sulfur was detected together with selenium in Se NPs, particularly when increased concentrations of sulfate were present in the medium.

Borane-Catalyzed Intermolecular Aryl Transfer between Hydrosilanes: Shifting the Equilibrium by Removal of a Gaseous Hydrosilane.

State Key Laboratory for Oxo Synthesis and Selective Oxidation, Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Lanzhou 730000, P. R. China.

The preparation of organosilanes is indeed far from trivial, despite their vast application. Herein, we report a straightforward and general hydrosilane iterative evolution system for the on-demand synthesis of heteroleptic-substituted hydrosilanes. A series of previously difficult-to-prepare hydrosilanes with two or three diverse substituents were readily obtained.

Smart tech meets forensics: Enhancing crime scene investigation with digital simulations.

Forensic Sci Int

December 2024

The Department of Criminal Science and Technology, Liaoning Police Academy, Dalian 116036, China. Electronic address:

This study proposes the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), specifically reinforcement learning and immersive human-computer interaction, to enhance crime scene investigation (CSI) training and assessment in public security colleges and universities. By incorporating these technologies, the aim is to provide a more systematic, scientific, and efficient learning experience for students, while ensuring fair and impartial evaluation. The technical roadmap and implementation strategy for applying AI and immersive interaction in CSI training are outlined, along with an application plan for different stages of the training and assessment process.

Article Synopsis
  • Poor quality and oxidation vulnerability have limited the use of tin-based perovskite quantum dots (TQDs), but this study presents a new method to create higher quality CsSnI-based TQDs using a mix of CsCO and CsI.
  • The incorporation of CsI improved the I:Sn ratio, resulting in smaller, more uniform TQDs with better crystallinity and photoluminescence, as confirmed by XPS and NMR analyses.
  • These newly developed CsI-TQDs exhibit remarkable stability, lasting over an hour in air and more than 24 hours before complete oxidation, and they also maintain their qualities after changes to their ligands, suggesting enhanced potential for electronic device applications.
