Published: November 2015

Mesoporous ATO nanocrystalline electrodes of micrometer thicknesses have been prepared from ATO nanocrystals and the grafted copolymer templating agents poly vinyl chloride-g-poly(oxyethylene methacrylate). As-obtained electrodes have high interfacial surface areas, large pore volumes, and rapid intraoxide electron transfer. The resulting high surface area materials are useful substrates for electrochemically catalyzed water oxidation. With thin added shells of TiO2 deposited by atomic layer deposition (ALD) and a surface-bound Ru(II) polypyridyl chromophore, they become photoanodes for hydrogen generation in the presence of a reductive scavenger.

The tetragonal heavy-fermion superconductor CeRh_{2}As_{2} (T_{c}=0.3  K) exhibits an exceptionally high critical field of 14 T for B∥c. It undergoes a field-driven first-order phase transition between superconducting states, potentially transitioning from spin-singlet to spin-triplet superconductivity.

The bismuth monolayer has recently been experimentally identified as a novel platform for the investigation of two-dimensional single-element ferroelectric system. Here, we model the potential energy surface of a bismuth monolayer by employing a message-passing neural network and achieve an error smaller than 1.2 meV per atom.

Gigahertz Surface Acoustic Wave Topological Rainbow in Nanoscale Phononic Crystals.

Phys Rev Lett

December 2024

Nanjing University, National Laboratory of Solid State Microstructures & Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Nanjing 210093, China.

Precisely engineered gigahertz surface acoustic wave (SAW) trapping enables diverse and controllable interconnections with various quantum systems, which are crucial to unlocking the full potential of phonons. The topological rainbow based on synthetic dimension presents a promising avenue for facile and precise localization of SAWs. In this study, we successfully developed a monolithic gigahertz SAW topological rainbow by utilizing a nanoscale translational deformation as a synthetic dimension.

Dental ultrasonic scalers are commonly employed in periodontal treatment; however, their ability to roughen tooth surfaces is a worry since roughness may increase plaque production, a key cause of periodontal disease. This research studied the influence of a piezoelectric ultrasonic scaler on the roughness of two distinct flowable composite filling materials. To do this, 10 disc-shaped samples were generated from each of the two flowable composite materials.

Isolation of Human BAMBIhighMFGE8high Umbilical Cord-Derived Mesenchymal Stromal Cells.

Department of Rheumatology and Immunology, Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, Affiliated Hospital of Medical School, Nanjing University;

Umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stromal/stem cells (UC-MSCs) present low immunogenicity and potent immunomodulatory effects for treating various diseases. Human UC-MSCs are a heterogeneous population consisting of three main subpopulations with different cell shapes, proliferation rates, differentiation abilities, and immune regulatory functions. Previously, BAMBIMFGE8 UC-MSCs, the first subgroup successfully isolated from UC-MSCs were found to fail to alleviate lupus nephritis.
