Organisms of the genus Acanthamoeba are environmentally ubiquitous and colonizers of the oral mucosa in humans. While largely asymptomatic in healthy persons, Acanthamoeba infection can cause disseminated disease with poor prognosis in immunosuppressed populations. Here we report a unique case of cutaneous amoebiasis associated with continuous positive airway pressure use in an immunosuppressed patient.

Aims: Stroke is a common diabetic complication, by which the Chinese visceral adiposity index (CVAI) is confirmed as a better predictor of visceral fat. However, the relationship between CVAI change and the stroke risk among patients with diabetes and prediabetes remains unclear. Therefore, we aimed to examine the association of CVAI trajectory with the risk of stroke.

Anaplastic lymphoma kinase positive (ALK+) anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) typically affects young individuals and, despite high responsiveness to cytotoxic drugs, relapses occur in over 50% of patients. Crizotinib has improved outcomes, but its management in patients desiring parenthood remains an issue. This study presents the first description of four successful pregnancies during crizotinib treatment for ALK+ALCL: a female patient achieving two pregnancies through assisted reproductive technologies (ART), temporarily discontinuing crizotinib and maintaining a complete remission (CR), and a male patient conceiving naturally while on continuous therapy.

Objective: Although FibroScan (FS), based on Vibration-Controlled Transient Elastography (VCTE), is a widely used non-invasive device for assessing liver fibrosis and steatosis, its current standard-VCTE examination remains timely and difficult on patients with obesity. The Guided-VCTE examination uses continuous shear waves to locate the liver by providing a real-time predictive indicator for shear wave propagation and uses shear wave maps averaging to increase the signal-to-noise ratio in difficult to assess patients. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the new indicator, as well as compare examination times and success rates with both standard-VCTE and Guided-VCTE examinations.

Background: While aiming to optimize patient value, the shift towards Value-Based Health Care (VBHC) in hospitals worldwide has been argued to benefit healthcare professionals as well. However, robust evidence regarding VBHC's workforce implications is lacking. This gap is problematic, as the motivation and health of healthcare professionals are central to the quality of care and crucial amidst contemporary workforce challenges.

The Yellow River Basin is China's grain production base and ecological barrier, with an important strategic position. Therefore, it is of great significance to analyze spatiotemporal pattern of ecosystem services and agricultural green, and further exploring the driving mechanism of coordination using the GTWR model to examine how the Yellow River Basin's agriculture evolve sustainably. The results indicate that: (1) In 2011-2021, the Yellow River Basin's ecosystem service value showed a state of growth first and then decline, indicating that the decrease trend cannot be ignored; the Yellow River Basin has seen a steady rise in agricultural green level, with regional disparities progressively disappearing.
