One of the major tasks of histocompatibility and immunogenetics laboratories is the pretransplant determination of unacceptable antigen mismatches (UAM) in kidney transplant recipients. In this procedure, human leucocyte antigen (HLA) specificities are defined against which the patient has circulating alloantibodies that are expected to harm the transplanted organ. Using the information on UAM and the potential donor's complete HLA typing, prediction of the crossmatch result, the so called 'virtual crossmatch', is possible. Currently, the laboratories are using different algorithms for the determination of UAM, and depending on the algorithm, more or fewer organ offers are excluded for patients with a similar antibody profile. In order to bring homogeneity into the allocation of organs to immunized patients in Germany, the German Society for Immunogenetics established, on the basis of current knowledge, recommendations for the determination of UAM. The UAM recommendations, which are thought to serve as a common tool for responsible physicians at different transplant centers, contain technical issues that need to be considered and are individualized for sensitized patients with a high or intermediate risk of antibody-mediated rejection. The present review contains these recommendations and puts them into perspective to current international practice.

Childhood and adolescent classic Hodgkin Lymphoma (cHL) has long been a model for how we balance improved outcomes with increased toxicities in pediatric cancer. The recognition that unacceptable short- and long-term toxicities come with increasing intensity of treatment has led to a decades-long attempt to better understand the patient-specific factors that dictate responses and outcomes. Targeted immunotherapy has emerged as a promising adjunct to cancer treatment; it has been shown to improve outcomes for poorly responding patients, to salvage relapsed disease, and more recently, to replace more toxic therapy modalities such as chemotherapy and radiation while maintaining excellent outcomes.

Purpose: Adavosertib is an oral small molecular inhibitor of Wee1. The Adult Brain Tumor Consortium performed a phase I study of adavosertib, radiation (RT) and temozolomide (TMZ) in newly diagnosed glioblastoma (GBM) as well as a surgical window of opportunity study in recurrent GBM.
Patients And Methods: The maximum tolerated dose (MTD) of adavosertib was determined in adult patients with newly diagnosed GBM using a standard 3+3 design in 2 separate cohorts: with concurrent RT/TMZ or with adjuvant TMZ.

Liquid crystal monomers (LCMs) are emerging pollutants that have attracted attention recently due to their unique chemical properties and wide applications. However, in-depth research on LCMs' potential risks to soil health remains blank. Therefore, 107 LCMs and nine soil health characterization proteins/enzymes were selected as research objects in this study.

End-user feedback early in product development is important for optimizing multipurpose prevention technologies for HIV and pregnancy prevention. We evaluated the acceptability of the 90-day dapivirine levonorgestrel ring (DPV-LNG ring) used for 14 days compared to a dapivirine-only ring (DVR-200mg) in MTN-030/IPM 041 (n = 23), and when used for 90 days cyclically or continuously in MTN-044/IPM 053/CCN019 (n = 25). We enrolled healthy, non-pregnant, HIV-negative women aged 18-45 in Pittsburgh, PA and Birmingham, AL (MTN-030 only).

Background: Wet pack after steam sterilization of medical devices in healthcare facilities are unacceptable.
Purpose: To retrieve, evaluate and integrate the best evidence related to wet pack management.
Methods: We searched the JBI, Up To Date, BMJ, National Guideline Clearinghouse (NGC), National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN), Cochrane library, PubMed, Guideline International Network (GIN), AORN Journal, and other databases using the pyramid "6S" model for guidelines, expert consensus, systematic reviews, evidence summaries, decisions, recommended practices, and technical reports on wet pack management.
