Cyanobacteria and their taste and odor (T&O) compounds are a growing concern in water sources globally. Geosmin and 2-methylisoborneol (MIB) are the most commonly detected T&O compounds associated with cyanobacterial presence in drinking water sources. The use of ultraviolet and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as an advanced oxidation treatment for T&O control is an emerging technology. However, residual H2O2 (>80% of the initial dose) has to be removed from water prior final disinfection. Recently, granular activated carbon (GAC) is used to remove H2O2 residual. The objective of this study is to assess the impact of H2O2 quenching and aging processes on GAC capacity for the removal of geosmin and MIB. Pilot columns with different types of GAC and presence/absence of H2O2 have been used for this study. H2O2 removal for the operational period of 6 months has no significant impact on GAC capacity to remove the geosmin and MIB from water.

Adoptive cell therapy with tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) can mediate tumor regression, including complete and durable responses, in a range of solid cancers, most notably in melanoma. However, its wider application and efficacy has been restricted by the limited accessibility, proliferative capacity and effector function of tumor-specific TIL. Here, we develop a platform for the efficient identification of tumor-specific TCR genes from diagnostic tumor biopsies, including core-needle biopsies frozen in a non-viable format, to enable engineered T cell therapy.

Developing an effective method for extracting soluble dietary fiber (SDF) from bamboo shoot shell (BSS) is of great significance for the resource utilization of BSS. Here, we proposed the combinational strategy of steam explosion (SE), alkaline extraction (AE), and microbial extraction (ME) to enhance BSS-SDF yield. The highest yield of 28.

The electroplating industry is an important source of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination, but there is a lack of comprehensive studies on the occurrence, transport, and removal of PFAS in electroplating parks. In this study, we investigated typical electroplating parks in China and conducted the first full-scale removal of PFAS from chromium-plating wastewater using pore-enlarged granular activated carbon (GAC) and hydrophobic anion exchange resin (AER). The results showed that 6:2 fluorotelomer sulfonate (6:2 FTS) gradually replaced perfluorooctanesulfonate (PFOS) in China's electroplating industry.

The rigid solid-solid contact at the interface between the solid electrolyte and electrodes in full-solid-state lithium-ion batteries (ASSBs) presents a considerable challenge to lithium ion transport. To address this, we propose using Li-concentrated succinonitrile (Li-SN45) as an efficient bilateral interface modifier in ASSBs. This material boasts exceptional ionic conductivity of 3.

Introduction: Fetal microchimerism could be involved in the regulation of breast cancer oncogenesis. CD34+ cells could be of a particular interest as up to 12% of the CD34+ population in maternal blood are of fetal origin. The aim of this research was to analyze the impact of umbilical cord blood (UCB) CD34+ on MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cell lines, in order to uncover novel biological mechanisms and suggest novel treatment options for breast cancer.
