Background: The purpose of this study was to test the hypothesis that estradiol (E2) level on day 3 may be associated with in vitro fertilization (IVF) outcomes.
Methods: The records of patients who received clomiphene citrate 100 mg/day plus human menopausal gonadotropin 150 IU/day from day 3 and received frozen-thawed embryo transfers were reviewed. Patients were divided into three groups: group A (E2 ≤30 pg/ml), group B (30< E2 ≤50 pg/ml), and group C (E2 >50 pg/ml). A total of 1080 cycles from 941 patients were included.
Results: The number of eggs and MII oocytes were less in group C than group A (both, P = 0.001). The embryo implantation (P = 0.006) and clinical pregnancy rates (P = 0.036) were lower in group C than group B, and the rates were similar between group A and B.
Conclusion: Maintaining the serum E2 level from 30 to 50 pg/ml may result in a higher clinical pregnancy rate in IVF cycles.

Growth hormone (GH) secretion by the pituitary is regulated by stimulatory and inhibitory pathways such as growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH) and somatostatin, respectively, being also modulated by different neurotransmitters acting at the hypothalamic/pituitary level. The pineal gland hormone melatonin regulates GH secretion in many mammals, including humans, although its role in modulating GH secretion has been debated. We describe the case of a young woman chronically taking melatonin for sleep disturbances, referring to her general practitioner for flushing that appeared just after starting melatonin intake.

Objective: This study aims to explore the role of estrogen in providing cardioprotective benefits to premenopausal women, examining how hormonal differences between sexes influence the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) in women.
Materials And Methods: Eighteen female Wistar rats were equally distributed into three treatment groups. Animals in Group I (sham-operated) and Group II (ovariectomized [OVX]) received oral saline solution at a dose of 2 mL/kg.

Objective: To assess the genotypic and allelic distribution of the rs10046 polymorphism in the gene and evaluate whether this aromatase gene variant is associated with cardiovascular risk in postmenopausal women.
Materials And Methods: This cross-sectional study analyzed repository-stored samples from 370 postmenopausal women aged 44-72 years. Clinical, metabolic, and hormonal data were collected.

Aristolochic acid I (AAI), the most prominent component of aristolochic acids and found in nearly all aristolochic herbs, has been demonstrated significant nephrotoxicity. In this study, an acute nephrotoxicity model of AAI mice was established by a single dose injection of AAI. It was observed that there are differences of the sensitivity to AAI nephrotoxicity in female and male mice, with male mice exhibiting nephrotoxic effects even at lower doses.
