The reaction between 3-methyl-4-nitro-5-styrylisoxazoles and ethyl isocyanoacetate proceeded under phase transfer catalysis to give enantioenriched monoadducts in high enantiomeric excess (up to 99% ee). The resulting adducts were subsequently cyclised to give 2,3-dihydropyrroles and substituted pyrrolidines in identical high ees and as a single diastereoisomer.

The detection of highly toxic chemicals such as phosgene is crucial for addressing the severe threats to human health and public safety posed by terrorist attacks and industrial mishaps. However, timely and precise monitoring of phosgene at a low cost remains a significant challenge. This work is the first to report a novel fluorescent system based on the Intramolecular Charge Transfer (ICT) effect, which can rapidly detect phosgene in both solution and gas phases with high sensitivity by integrating a benzo[1,2-b:6,5-b']dithiophene-4,5-diamine (BDTA) probe.

A novel piezoresistive cantilever microprobe (PCM) with an integrated electrothermal or piezoelectric actuator has been designed to replace current commercial PCMs, which require external actuators to perform contact-resonance imaging (CRI) of workpieces and avoid unwanted "forest of peaks" observed at large travel speed in the millimeter-per-second range. Initially, a PCM with integrated resistors for electrothermal actuation (ETA) was designed, built, and tested. Here, the ETA can be performed with a piezoresistive Wheatstone bridge, which converts mechanical strain into electrical signals by boron diffusion in order to simplify the production process.

The main component of high-capacity silicon-based electrodes is silicon powder, which necessitates intricate processing to minimize volume growth and powder separation while guaranteeing the ideal Si content. This work uses the an situ high-pressure forming approach to create an MXene/-Si/MXene composite electrode, where MXene refers to TiCT, and -Si denotes two-phase mixed nano-Si particles. The sandwich shape promotes silicon's volume growth and stops active particles from spreading.

C-UHTC is an ideal aerospace material because of its exceptional properties, but its machinability is facing great challenges. Electrical discharge machining (EDM) offers a potential solution, but its removal mechanism remains unclear, lacking reliable prediction tools to guide the actual production. This paper deeply explores the EDM removal mechanism of C-ZrB-SiC through single-pulse experiments, high-speed camera observations, and thermal-fluid coupling simulations, revealing key processes like heat transfer, phase transformation, molten pool dynamics, crater formation, and reinforcing phase effects.

The liver is an indispensable metabolic organ, responsible for accumulating and transporting various nutritional compounds in hepatocytes. However, the transport of these materials from the liver is an energetically intensive task because they contain a considerable number of hydrophobic components, including free cholesterol, and require specialized transfer proteins to shuttle these substances through an aqueous phase. Liver X receptors (LXRs) induce the expression of cholesterol transporters in macrophages to transport free cholesterol derived from apoptotic cells into extracellular space via high-density lipoproteins.
