High frequency oscillations in the hippocampal structures recorded during sleep have been proved to be essential for long-term episodic memory consolidation in both animals and in humans. The aim of this study was to test if transcranial Alternating Current Stimulation (tACS) of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) in the hippocampal ripple range, applied bi-frontally during encoding, could modulate declarative memory performance, measured immediately after encoding, and after a night's sleep. An associative word-pair learning test was used. During an evening encoding phase, participants received 1 mA 140 Hz tACS or sham stimulation over both DLPFCs for 10 min while being presented twice with a list of word-pairs. Cued recall performance was investigated 10 min after training and the morning following the training session. Forgetting from evening to morning was observed in the sham condition, but not in the 140 Hz stimulation condition. 140 Hz tACS during encoding may have an effect on the consolidation of declarative material.

Introduction: Transcranial electrical stimulation (tES), including transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), is widely studied for its potential to modulate brain oscillations and connectivity, offering treatment options for neurological disorders like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and insomnia. In this study, we focus on investigating the efficacy of tACS and tDCS in entraining intrinsic cortical network oscillations through a computational model.
Materials And Methods: We developed a 2D computational cortical neuron model with 2000 neurons (1600 pyramidal and 400 inhibitory), based on the Izhikevich neuron model.

Tourette syndrome and other tic disorders are prevalent neurodevelopmental disorders typically treated with behavioral techniques or pharmacological interventions, primarily antipsychotics. However, many patients do not achieve sufficient response to conventional treatments, underscoring the need for further research in this area. To provide a comprehensive overview of ongoing research activities, we systematically searched the clinical registries of the World Health Organization (WHO) and of the United States National Institutes of Health (NIH) for currently planned or ongoing registered clinical studies.

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is applied both in research settings and clinically, notably in treating depression through the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (dlPFC). We have recently shown that transcranial alternating current stimulation of the dlPFC partially entrains muscle sympathetic nerve activity (MSNA) to the stimulus. We, therefore, aimed to further explore the sympathetic properties of the dlPFC, hypothesizing that single-pulse TMS could generate de novo MSNA bursts.

Background: Non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS), such as transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), has emerged as a promising alternative in the precise treatment of clinical symptoms, such as the cognitive impairment of bipolar disorder (BD). Optimizing the neurocognitive effects by combining tDCS and rTMS to strengthen the clinical outcome is a challenging research issue.
Objective: In this randomized, controlled trial, we first combined tDCS and neuronavigated rTMS targeting the V1 region to explore the efficacy on neurocognitive function in BD patients with depressive episodes.

Transcranial ultrasound is used in a variety of treatments, including neuromodulation, opening the blood-brain barrier (BBB), and high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) therapies. To ensure safety and efficacy of these treatments, numerical simulations of the ultrasound field within the brain are used for treatment planning and evaluation. This study investigates the accuracy of numerical modelling of the propagation of focused ultrasound through cranial bones.
