Aim: To evaluate the adjunctive effects of a Streptococcus oralis KJ3, Streptococcus uberis KJ2 and Streptococcus rattus JH145 containing probiotic tablet after scaling and root planing (SRP).
Materials And Methods: Forty-eight periodontitis patients were included in this double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial. After root planing, patients used either a placebo or a probiotic tablet twice a day for 12 weeks. The pocket probing depth (primary outcome measure), bleeding on probing and relative attachment levels were measured at baseline, 12 and 24 weeks. At baseline, 4, 8, 12 and 24 weeks, microbiological sampling was performed and plaque and gingival indices were recorded.
Results: The primary and secondary outcome measures were significantly (p < 0.05) improved at the 12- and the 24-week evaluation in both groups. However, no significant inter-group differences could be detected at any time point, except from the % of sites with plaque that were significantly lower in the probiotic group than in the control group at the 24-week evaluation. In addition, at the 12-week time point, the salivary Prevotella intermedia counts were significantly lower in the probiotic group.
Conclusions: No differences were detected when comparing the adjunctive use of a placebo or the investigated streptococci containing probiotic tablet after SRP. ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT02403960.

Background: Among the complex causes of infertility, Recurrent Implantation Failure (RIF) stands out as a challenging condition. Immunological aberrations are closely implicated in RIF, particularly the imbalance between T helper 1 (Th1) and T helper 2 (Th2) cytokines. Interest in harnessing probiotics to enhance fertility outcomes in RIF-affected women is growing.

Objectives: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of probiotics and early oral feeding in patients with severe acute pancreatitis.
Methods: A prospective, randomized, controlled trial was conducted involving 66 patients, who were randomly divided into a control group ( = 32) receiving standard enteral nutrition and an observation group ( = 34) receiving additional Bifidobacterium quadruplex live bacterial tablets. Serum inflammatory markers, including white blood cells (WBC), interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor- (TNF-α), and C-reactive protein (CRP), were measured on days 1, 3, and 7 post-admission.

Background: According to the World Health Organization, probiotics are live microorganisms that, when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit to the host. The use of oral probiotics in children to improve oral health may lead to nonpathogenic bacteria replacing cariogenic bacteria. The Evora Plus oral probiotics tablet is the first such oral probiotics tablet containing a proprietary blend of three select species of naturally occurring oral bacteria, each with a specific function for maintaining a healthy oral environment.

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of a fresh-breath mild effervescent tablet on halitosis as an alternative to mouthwash.
Materials And Methods: Halitosis is the unpleasant and offensive odour emanating from the oral cavity (bad breath), which is linked to the presence of volatile sulphur compounds (VSCs). A randomised, single-blind, controlled clinical trial was conducted with 102 volunteers who had oral complaints (range 18-60 years).

This research delved into the feasibility of utilizing three nanochitin-chitin nanocrystal (CNC), chitin nanofiber (CNF), and chitin nanosphere (CNS) in complexation with whey protein isolate (WPI) to fabricate complex coacervation and create microcapsules for probiotic encapsulation. The results showed that CNC, CNF, and CNS exhibited notable differences in morphologies, dimensions, and properties due to the respective synthesis methodologies. Nevertheless, all of them maintained a positive charge and were capable of assembling into microcapsules with WPI via electrostatic interactions at optimal pHs.
