Novel pyrimidine compound bearing disulfide bridge, 5,5'-disulfanediylbis(2-amino-4,6-dimetoxypyrimidine) (3) was synthesized by reduction of 2-amino-4,6-dimethoxy-5-thiocyanatopyrimidine for the first time, and its structure was confirmed by X-ray crystallographic analysis. Novel binuclear antimony(III) compound of (3), {Sb[5,5'-disulfanediylbis(2-amino-4,6-dimetoxypyrimidine)]Cl3}2 (4) and mononuclear antimony(III) compounds, SbL2Cl3, [L: 2-amino-5-thiol-4,6-dimethoxy pyrimidine (2) and 2-amino-5-(1H-tetrazol-5-ylthio)-4,6-dimethoxypyrimidine (6)] were synthesized and characterized with the help of elemental analysis, molecular conductivity, FT-IR, (1)H-NMR and LC-MS techniques. The geometrical structures optimized by a DFT/B3LYP/LANL2DZ method of the compounds, indicated that monomeric compounds have square pyramidal shape. Both antileishmanial activity against Leishmania tropica promastigote and glutathione reductase inhibitory activity were determined in vitro. The results showed that (3) has the best biological activity.

A set of antimony(III) compounds containing a ligand (Ar) with a pendant guanidine function (where Ar = 2-[(MeN)CN]CH) was prepared and characterized. This includes triorgano-Ar3Sb, diorgano-Ar2SbCl and monoorgano-ArSbCl2 compounds and they were characterized by H and C NMR spectroscopy and by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis (sc-XRD). The coordination capability of Ar3Sb and Ar2SbCl was examined in the reactions with either -[PdCl(CHCN)] or PtCl and complexes -[(κ-Sb,N-Ar3Sb)MCl] (M = Pd 1, Pt 2) and [(κ-N,Sb,N-Ar2SbCl)MCl] (M = Pd 3, Pt 4) were isolated, while their structures were determined by sc-XRD.

Antimony (Sb) is one of the most concerning toxic metals globally, making the study of methods for efficiently removing Sb(III) from water increasingly urgent. This study uses graphene oxide and chitosan as the matrix (GOCS), modifying them with FeCl and four MnO to form iron-manganese oxide (FM/GC) at a Fe/Mn molar ratio of 4:1. FM/GC quaternary composite microspheres are prepared, showing that FM/GC obtained from different MnO exhibits significant differences in the ability to remove Sb(III) from neutral solutions.

Currently, there is not much success in solving the molecular and crystal structures of long-chain metal alkanethiolate complexes [M(SCH)] at the atomic level. Taking Sb(SCH) () as an example, we herein disclose the structural characteristics of long-chain trivalent antimony(III) alkanethiolates Sb(SCH) ( ≥ 12) by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. Specifically, the Sb atom is three-coordinated by alkanethiolate ligands and a slightly distorted triangular pyramid SbS core is formed owing to the unique intramolecular stereochemistry of three alkyl chains, namely, two of them almost parallel aligning and the third chain extending alone around the SbS core.

Antimony (Sb) pollution has raised increasing public concerns and its rapid on-site screening is central for the risk assessment. Herein, we proposed two gel-based methods based on colorimetric diffusive equilibrium in thin films (DET) and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), for two-dimensional imaging and sensitive detection of Sb(III) by revisiting the phenylfluorone (PhF) complexation reaction. PhF was well dispersed in the polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogel and reacted with Sb(III) in the DET gel to form a strong PhF-Sb(III) complex.
